I’ve managed in my lifetime
To see dreams go down the drain
Our Gold mines turn to dust
 in the rain
I could almost seem taste it
It slipped right from my grasp
I got older My plans faded fast

You can’t buy your way to heaven
You can find it in this world
Love means more than money that’s for sure
Opportunities have knocked in vain Or knocked me to my knees
In the end all we have is memories

I’d rather spend my time and try to help the ones I can
As a husband as a father as a man
We’ll have to live with less It’s what seems to be in store
In the end we might find out we’ve got more

Outstanding as usual, you are an excellent songwriter and singer.

I really loved the lyrics in this one. I can really relate to them.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hey Tommy - boy that Pedal sure pulls out the emotion.

+1 with Mario on this one.

Production question for you - what is your primary vocal control tool for keeping your vocal volume level - compression, envelopes?

Ian, Thanks for the comments. On vocals I use a preset in garageband that has some compression built in, but very little. I add delay and reverb and sometimes tweak the EQ as my voice is a bit on the thin side. I feel comfortable with blues but struggle with all the rest. Thanks again. Tom

Hi Tom

I struggle with that too - I'd like to find a foolproof combination of leveling the voice without squashing.
You can only operate so many faders during a mix with a mouse, eh?

Hi Tommy,
I love this song. The lyrics are great. It’s like you wrote them right in my living room. Talk about relating to something, if I wrote this, I’d be so satisfied. This is a such good song.

(From)
“Opportunities have knocked in vain, or knocked me to my knees”
(To)
“I’d rather spend my time and try to help the ones I can
As a husband as a father as a man
We’ll have to live with less It’s what seems to be in store
In the end we might find out we’ve got more”.
These are all killer lines.
It’s like you’ve been reading my mail. (or my mind)
I feel a little less alone.

Great song, it blew me away.

Tommy,
I forgot to comment on your performance because I was so taken with the song.
Your voice and the arrangement blend perfectly together.
The recording is great.

Thank you for sharing this,

Just listened to it as well. Loved it, and such a good job !

Being new to the community and just getting started, I can hardly appreciate all the work that it must have required. But, I am sure to find out as I get into it more.

Thanks again, Tom, for such a beautiful song.

Nicely done Tom. My only quibble is I thought the break came a little early in the song. Heartfelt lyrics and vocals. Great traditional country song and sound.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
