Hello Everyone, I just downloaded BIAB 2011.5 UltraPak and I'm going thru all the styles looking for Cut Time Styles. I have this 2 Beat Bluegrass Number I'm trying to learn. I can't find where I can change a 4/4 Time Signature to Cut Time or I think that is written 2/2 where there is 2 beats in a measure and a half note gets one beat. All of the Bluegrass Styles as far as I can determine are written in 4/4 Time Signature. Can anyone help me with this. Thank You. After a little research I find what I really want is Half-Time Styles, where there are two beats in each measure. I really am confused between Half-Time & Double-Time. In other words if a tune is written in 4/4 Time Signature how does Half Time or Cut Time affect how many beats there are to a measure?

Our Bluegrass styles are 16th note based, so a fast bluegrass style would be tempo of 130.
If you want to see a tempo of 260 instead, with 8th notes, then you would use Half-Time. I don't think we've made a style that is like that (we should be able to upload one next week).
In the meantime, you could make one by setting all of the realTracks to half-Time in the RealTracks assign dialog. (note that half time doesn't apply to drums, so choose no drums or an 8th note based drums style.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

>> I have SO MUCH to learn yet. It's more fun to be playing, than learning <G> ... so I made a 8th note based Bluegrass style for you. This uses Bluegrass RealTracks, so you need to have those RealTracks. Here's a video of the style in action http://screencast.com/t/h5GxNLCp5HHere's an audio of it: http://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/jazzu/misc/_BGBand8.mp4And here is the style and a demo song.... put them in your BB folder, and load in the song and play! STY and SONG in the ZIP... http://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/jazzu/misc/_BGBAND8.zipHere's a video showing how I made the 8th note based style (tempo 260), starting from a 16th note based style (tempo 130). Note that you can do this yourself with any style! Video on making half-time style for Bluegrass: http://screencast.com/t/aQAgGpTDdN9N

Thank you so much Peter.....This is so much more than I expected. Learning can be fun too!! BTW I did find a Style that worked for me on the Bluegrass 2 Beat Tune. It was called ALABAMA2. The meter was right but didn't have a Mandolin or Banjo. I'm thinking about trying to Record some Banjo strumming from my keyboard into the Melody track. But instead I can use what you did for me. Thanks a bunch.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
