Hey All,

Here's a new song Josie and I put together. This was produced with BIAB/RT's and was mixed in GarageBand. It's called "Long Time" - we hope you enjoy it...

"Long Time"

A black crow flying
In a trickle down rain
Every now and then
He'd fly my way again
See the lines in the road
Kick an old tin can
Got my mind on you
And my feet on the land

A white winged dove
On the edge of seventeen
One brave love of mine
Came to visit in a dream
I packed my bags
Take a journey with you
That sky between us
Fades from black to blue

Chorus:
Long time like a January song
Long time and far from home
Long time and cold to the bone
Long time

A snowbird high
On the evergreen
Shadows on the ground
And nothing in between
All those years ago
Had my eyes on you
Some things turn to gold
Or sing the church bell blues

Chorus: repeat

Bridge:
The seasons pass
Shadows into light
Time stands still
In the dark of night

Break

Chorus: repeat x2/end

Another great song from a great team.

Don't take this the wrong way, Bob, but when you first come in singing, I thought your voice had a very Stevie Nicks quality to it at first, but then became more Dylanesque afterwards. But then I heard the reference to Edge of Seventeen, s I don't know if you were channeling a little Fleetwood Mac in this song, or what.

I really liked it.

Hey John,

Thanks for your kind words. Josie and I really appreciate your support. Yes, the second verse gives a little nod to Stevie - so cool you picked up on that...

Hi Bob and Josie,

What impressed me most about this song were the harmonies, the chorus and the arrangement. I found myself singing along with the last chorus and I wasn't even conscious that I'd started doing it. That tells me you that you've got a good, strong hook happening. To my way of thinking, this is a top shelf effort whichever way I look at it.

All the best,
Noel

Bob and Josie, as always, this is top shelf stuff. You guys continue to amaze me with the quality of your writing. Consistently good lyrics, along with strong melodies, and solid performances. You are a great team!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
