I started writing the song in Aug 2001 as "my version" of Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd using their lyric idea as a base. But then the events of today 10 years ago unfolded. From then I always dedicate this song to those that lost loved ones on that awful day.
This is all MIDI ending with !campst8 style but I used other instrs from other styles, long since forgotten as I changed and changed almost everything, except the chords, over the years. The midi is almost totally BIAB but with some help from Jammer Pro and then Cubase SX1.
All vocals are me with a Line 6 preset called Studio Vocal.Guitar solo is me, on my Squier Strat, trying to be flash and "angry" by tapping and playing "over the fretboard" with my left hand and is a mix of various takes. Amp is a Marshall from Line 6 Tone direct UX2 gold with echo and reverb.
Bass is UVI Free. Drums and other instruments are from FL Studio . Choir is from GMedia classic Mtron not the Mtron Pro.

Girl of my Dreams:

I hate September what a miserable time of year
Summer’s gone and winters drawing in
The nights are cold as cold as your heart
it cuts me like a knife

I wanna relax I wanna forget
I want all this to disappear
boy do I hate I hate this time of year
the stage is set and it soon becomes oh so crystal clear
you’re the reason I hate this time of year

My bags are packed and I’m ready to go I’m leaving this town
I gotta get away gotta start a new life on my own
the thought of that well it scares me ooh it scares me half to death

I wanna relax I wanna forget
I want all this to disappear
boy do I hate I hate this time of year
I want to spend the rest of my life with the girl of my dreams
trouble is the girl of my dreams was you.

Hey Gibson,

I agree with Bob. Cool song! I like your style. Fan here. This is one of my favs of yours. Loved the arrangement too. Funny how writers can work on some songs for years and then hit the sweet spot. I think you got it with this one.

Alyn,

Great job. I like the way you put this song together. To me it's kind of a cross between Neil Young and early Beatles. Very cool.

Hi Alyn,

As I listened to your song, it really pulled me in. It's a great vibe you've got happening. I also like the way you sing. I don't know if you realise it, but when you sing "year" it sounds like Paul McCartney!

I was very impressed with the arrangement

All the best,
Noel

Alyn, this is your best to date. I really liked the lyrics and your style of singing them in this one. Great harmonies also. Plus that was a very cleaver guitar lead you had going one here, great chops man.

Two thumbs up

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
