Hi Tommy,

Great track! I have a few questions about it. Are these all real tracks or is it a mix of RTs and players? Also, the vocals on beginning are awesome. Are these loops? I would like to get hold of that collection. I need to put in to my wish list for BIAB scat vocal tracks for RTs.
Which host and mastering plugins do you use. I wish I could get my recordings to sound that clear.
Anyway, I enjoyed it. Reminds me of the days when we would jam together for hours off a cool chord progression and improve our improvisational skills. I miss those days!
Thanks for posting.

Hey Tommy,

Nice work here, cuz! I was going to ask you if this was all RT's, but RodM beat me to it.

I hope your sax player friend buys this one!

Thanks Guys
*_JAZFUNK Real Style , 1442 Sax,Alto . I used Logic Studio Pro 9 to mix and master and the vocals and percussion are loops that came with it. It was a girls voice ,but it was pitch shifted to be in tune with the song. I used factory presets for plugins because I know very little of proper mastering techniques . Logic has a preset for just about any instrument and any mastering situation . The only plugins were a suite for a male vocal ,Sax delay and wide pop mastering ,it seems like real tracks need very little done to them to sound good . I used dithering when it was bounced to a final cut ,but I don't know why it was just already checked as an option. The turn around was a chord substitution that Biab suggested when I couldn't figure how to tie the end to the beginning (love that feature).

Thank You John ! It was fun to click play ! Other than throw a few chords in and watch the fun , I had little to do with it. This may be the most perfect software ever invented . It sure has my vote for US President !

Cool! Very clean, funky sound.
I like the groove too.
My only nit-pick would be to have a simple(r) "hook; to define the song.
A sax player is going to look for that. (IMHO)

What button do you click for real track hooks ? On this song the Sax player will have to write his own, until I find that button. I only add the Sax at all so people won't be able to steal the track Mick . Another Sax player that heard the song was put off by Biabs sax playing , software envy ? But your suggestion is very right on and will make a great wish list item ! Thanks Mick for that Idea !

Loved it! Great jam with a funky clean sound.

Two thumbs up.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Tommy - I've never been a jammer - except maybe with my harp on blues numbers. But I liked this for the reasons others mentioned - clean, groove +1.
Here's an idea if you're looking for a hook and don't play - use the BIAB MIDI melodists and soloists feature
- you can define your bars and keep rolling those notes until you get something you like, which a real saxophonist could play - it's a great feature with more flexibility than using RTs . . . . .at least to help you create the hook riff, or whatever you define as a "hook".

Your saxophonist will probably have his own idea once he hears the tune.

Good one - cheers, Ian

Hi Tommy,

You've certainly set the bar way up there in the blue with this one! It's absolutely brilliant! I'm in awe of your musicianship.

Saw your site. Nice job, Mick! Is that ALL from BIAB or are there
live instruments interwoven? (Has to be live sax ... computers can't
be that good ... YET).

Ha Debb, all the Real Tracks are from the Greatest Software ever made! Some vocal and percussion loops added, but the Sax is all PG! Biab even chose the turn around!

What can I say, except that I have it playing and I'm jamming to it.
I need something to sell so I can get BIAB with the RealTracks this year.
Great stuff.

Thanks Wayne, I love Real Tracks and was shocked when PG gave me their latest stuff last December. Even if I can never afford to purchase another update, what they gave me should last me a lifetime. Thanks Wayne for listening!

By the way, I'm a sax player. I haven't posted my music yet, but this
is one of my YouTube videos. It's been up for about eight months. Now
you'll know why I commented on the sax in your music.

I need some tracks so I can do a new song soon. I've been so busy
I haven't gotten around to it yet.... very frustrating.

this is really great, Tommy! I love those raw vocals on this! sax is smokin' - nice use of BIAB RT there. love that change up, perfect!

however, I have to critique in what I hear. again, even tho I really loved this from the start, I started getting bored from about 2 minutes because it was just the same stuff over and over. it needs some change in it to keep the listener interested. that first change up was perfect, but it wasn't enough when it happened again and again, by then it was "the same."

again - this is just My Opinion.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
