Hi everyone. This is a funky soul song I did several months ago, and I've just finished. I started the song in BIAB and did the structure there (BIAB is soooo great for this kind of job). I liked so much a couple of tracks (electric piano and tenor sax) that I used them in the final mix, with a little bit editing here and there. Main drums were programmed, and sound through Addictive Drums. I programmed a couple of electronic and percussion loops too, and bass and guitars -and of course vocals- are real. Everything was mixed with Reaper, the mix is still work in progress, so any suggestion welcomed!

Here's the link, I Hope you like it.

This is a hot rod song and a good mix to my ears -- well done!!

P.S. I thought the sax sounded a little "under-powered" from 2:44 - 3:07, but after that it sounded great!
At 5:09, it might be about a minute too long.

No suggestions. It sounds pretty well near perfect to me. Stunning in fact.
I LOVED the slinky key changes - wow! The vocal is beautiful - I assume your wife is a professional singer? She'd give Lisa Stansfield a run for her money.
Excellent song, arrangement and mix. And those key changes...woooh....!

Ok, put a gun to my head and I'd ask for the drums to be louder, but that's just me.

I love R&B / Funk tunes and this is outstanding Cerio. Sounds like you hired studio musicians to create this. If it is all Biab, you sure know how to get what you want out of it. Impressive indeed !!

Yes yes yes to all the above. This is sheer class. Love everything about it. I love this kinda stuff. Just wish I could write it!

The vocal is amazing. Just sooo good.

I've been playing this to all my friends and they all love it too!

Looking forward to your next post with eager anticipation.

Good luck with it!

Martin

Really liked the spacing of the vox

The overall feel of this piece is very evocative

Vox are outstanding – soulful and sincere. Loved the rap section too!

Sometimes there are 2 reps of some sections when maybe 1 would have been enough which results in the whole thing being maybe a little long

Also , the drum sound maybe a little over aggressive

Overall, this is big league stuff Cerio. Well done to both of you!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
