I, I've recently changed my computer, and it happens that the new one doesn't have numpad emulator. So when I need to write one slash chord, the only possibility I actually have is going to "Chord options" (ALT+F5) and writing it from there (it's kind of annoying) right?

What about the slash on the regular keyboard that is normally paired with the "?" key?

It doesn't work for me. I'm using a spanish keyboard, and my slash symbol is paired with the number "7" key. So, if I enter, for example:

G/

I get G seventh on BIAB; if I enter,

D/F#

The program doesn't recognize anything.

What about using the key that has the question mark on it. That might work. For example D?F#?

In all due respects, this is not a BIAB shortcoming, right ? It's a computer / hardware issue... but I'd agree, typing it in is much faster than using the chord editor.

Of course, I'm not trying to suggest anything like that, just looking for an easy way to avoid this small annoyance (I just make an extensive use of slash chords in BIAB, and having to enter them through ALT + F5 is just that, a little bit annoying)

Cerio,

I've looked up the Spanish keyboard layout and the yellow highlighted key is the one where "/" occurs on the US keyboard layout.

It would be worthwhile trying that key (whatever it's got on it).

If that doesn't work, it would be a good idea to create a post about this issue in the PG Music Spanish Forum (located under the PG Music wishlist forums).

Regards,
Noel

EDIT
P.S. One other thing I'd try is to simply work my way through every key on the keyboard. Sooner or later, you'll strike the one that does the job. Since BIAB doesn't distinguish between a key where shift is held down and the same key where shift is not held down, you'd only need to check the keys without using shift. (When all else fails, trial and error is often the only way to proceed.)

Solved! I tried with the keys you suggested without success, then I followed trial and error strategy: it was the one with "Ç" and "}" symbols.

It may seem obvious, but I just didn't thought about Noel's idea Thanks everybody!

Something to cross post the solution in the Spanish forum comes to mind now...

I am glad you got it Cerio.

Interesting point here about keys, symbols and language. And although so far no one has asked about this in the Spanish forum while I have been the host, It would be good to have it in mind in a given case.
I have a dual boot PC with Windows XP and Windows 7. Since I have students in both languages, I did set English and Spanish as language options in both OS. I can switch easily between them with the windows default key sequence (left) Alt+Shift.

I can note Cerio, in his Spanish Keyboard managed to get the slash with the keys corresponding to the symbols 'Ç' and '}' which does not work in my Spanish keyboard. Since it have numpad I use the devoted '/' key, however also I can get the slash with Shift+7 while Cerio can not. From this I infer maybe there is some relationship between keys and symbols layout and the region variants of the same input language. In my case I use Spanish International Sort which possibly result in different keyboard layouts that for example Spanish Latin or Spanish Traditional. I usually select input languages when I am asked during the OS installing. But at least in Windows XP I think it is perfectly feasible to do so later with the Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Language -> Details -> Text service and input language. Once there the user can Add or Remove languages or modify them up to finding a language input variation working well.

Maybe it would work for you Cerio. If you try it, please let us know about results.

Thanks to everyone for throwing light on the matter.

Hi, Carlos, nice to see you here It's strange, because I'm using the Spanish International layout too, but as I said, I only can get the slash symbol within BIAB presing the "ç" key. I've tried with other language layouts (Spanish Traditional, Spanish argentinian, English, Englis USA, etc..) with no sucess. BTW, my keyboard is organized exactly the same as the one pictured in Noel's post and I'm using W7.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
