I know the answer to my question is in the manual, somewhere, but I'm interested in knowing NOW so thought I'd ask for the heck of it.
Okay, I know how to get the instrument I want to perform the solo but let's say I want to stick it's solo between bars 15-25. How, exactly, do I do that?

The solo will be generated for the entire tune. So at bar 1, in bar settings, tell the solo track to mute. Then and bar 15, tell it 'back to normal' (it will play). Then at bar 26, tell it to mute again.

And, Mute and Unmute using F5 where needed. [F5 brings up Bar Settings that Mitch mentioned.]

It's like a sculptor. Just remove what you don't want.

Check out the "Custom" Solo Mode of the "Select Soloist" dialog.

Damn, hit a snag. Okay, (I hope this is right, or close to it). I'm clicking on the "Soloist" option. I see there is a way to mute that. The problem I'm having it's either all or nothing. I can't figure out how to do to unmute the solo for just a few bars then mute it again.

The "Custom" mode is indeed the key (besides using RealBand." This is great for "noodling" soloists who back up singers. I will often do the solo for the intro (1-4), and then, for example, 11-12 and then 19-20 (and I uncheck allowing solo for the extra beat.)

For the method Matt described click on the first bar and press F5. Select 'mute' from the solo track. Then click the first bar where you want to hear the solo. Press F5 again and select 'back to normal' for the soloist. Finally, at the last bar of the solo press F5 again and select 'mute' for the soloist.
The other method involves opening the 'generate a solo' dialog from the 'soloist' menu. Choose the soloist you want on the right and use the 'Custom' button to define the bars for the solo.

Thanks, GOT IT!! Hell, the slide solo came out so cool for my cover of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" I extended it and it works great with the modulation!! (I'll be recording it and then posting the video to YouTube within the next few days. Will post a link here for the heck of it).

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
