Sheils & Crane - 'Next Time' CD.

Just did a collab on another tune with Tommy, and just had to post something with a bit of 'grit' to it

Mitch,

All the tracks from the Shiels & Crane cd really sound great! What studio did you use? Was it recorded in your home studio that you "downsized" a few years back?

Great job on this one by the way. Let me know when you are going to have the cd re-released.

Steve, yes, all these 'Next Time' tracks from my home studio a few years back. Sorry to glut the forum... we just got released to do what we want with this CD so I'm posting the stuff.

Working on getting it on CD Baby / Amazon etc.

Mitch-

Another killer song! I hope you're pitching these tunes. Tommy really did some great work on this as well. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks Bob... guitar on these tracks is myself a few years ago. Can't play like this anymore. I indeed would have called upon Tommy for this tune to be sure !

Are these BIAB creations? If so, I'd like to hear about your recording process. They have a sound I haven't heard out of BIAB as yet.

Killer song! loved everything about it! Totally pro in every way!

but in deference to the rules, the showcase is for songs created with PGMusic products. Most people who have other songs they want form members to hear post them on the same server as the ones they created with PG products... that way, when people follow the link to the PG songs, they'll find the other stuff too

I already said what to do:

Keep putting all of your amazing songs on Soundcloud just like you're already doing... then every now and then post a realband song on the same Soundcloud location and advertise THAT song here.

Once we go to hear the one you posted to the user showcase, we'll listen to the other ones too. The quality of your songs is so amazing I can't imagine someone not taking time to listen to every one.

My hat's off to you.. I certainly don't want to discourage your participation because I love your songs... I just want the user showcase to be what it's supposed to be, and for Soundcloud to be what IT'S supposed to be. IMO, they're compatible goals.

(I suppose you could also take your originals, load 'em into RB' ACW to extract chords and tempo map them.. then add one track with RB. Nobody said the songs had to be 100% PG... just that they can't be 0% PG

Guess I'm missing the fine details or a senior moment... likely BOTH !

ALL my tunes are on Soundcloud but separated into my duo project, Sheils & Crane, featuring our original tunes, and another SC site feature my lap steel / BIAB / RealBand stuff. Each site has a link to the other in the 'About' area. I want them to be separate areas by design.

My entire music history is contained in the 3 links in my sig. WAY past, recent past, current.

Thanks again Pat for the most kind words !

I beg to differ Pat. In the FAQ it merely states "if Band-in-a-Box or RealBand have been used, etc." It is for users of PG-Music software, which MitchC undoubtedly is, but nowhere can I see that it is specifically for works produced with that software.
On another note, I am sure that PG music is quite capable of administrating their own forum without the help of members. If someone has a gripe they can contact the admin direct.
Mitch, kepp up the good work and keep posting them. Your tracks are an inspiration and I'm sure a motivation to a lot of people. Thanks for sharing.

I had the same impression when I saw Mitch's posts. But after reading the rules, there's nothing that specifically requires that BiaB be used. Since Mitch posts plenty of BiaB stuff, I don't think there's any issue of abuse.

But it would helpful if the original posts were clear that BiaB wasn't used... Only since it's a crushing blow to my ego each time I hear how good his stuff is.

Hey thanks for taking a listen guys. I'm about done posting older stuff now. All my musical efforts can be found in one of the 3 links in my sig.

If not already recorded, I would have most definately used BIAB / RealTracks for these tunes.

I stand corrected about the forum rules. As they read today, there is definitely no problem with posting original songs that weren't created or enhanced with any PGMusic products.

And I couldn't agree more about the quality of everything Mitch has posted. He is one talented guy, and who wouldn't appreciate his contributions? Mitch, please accept my apology for speaking incorrectly about the rules. I was wrong.

Regarding whether it is better for users to gently remind one another of the rules, or to "report" one another to the moderators, I would make this comparison:

If I'm speeding, and another passenger points it out to me and asks me to slow down , I would appreciate the friend's concern.

If I'm speeding and I get stopped by the police and ticketed, I would be angry, but I'd probably figure I had it coming and watch my speed thereafter

If I'm speeding and someone else in the car goes behind my back and calls the police on me, and THEN I get a ticket... I would see that as a betrayal and an unnecessary layer of mess when the problem that could have been handled in a simple and friendly way

In my experience, forums where the moderators are "enforcers" have a completely different kind of interaction, and it's NOT better than the climate we enjoy here.

I agree with your analogy about speeding, and anything to avoid getting busted by the authorities. Luckily PG music are not that way inclined.
