I have a couple year old lappy...got it cheap, beefed it up, loaded W7 64bit.....and BIAB 2012.
TUrion 64 TL-58 chip. 4gbRam, Tascam US-122mkII

I had nuttin but troubles. I got the idea that W7 32 would be better, and it is. Much. Matter of fact, BIAB loads FASTER...go figure. GOt the crackles out, drivers are behaving BETTER than in the 64 load (lower latency).

So yay.

Just in case anybody is doinkin' around .... 32 is better on older boxes sometimes.

For what its worth, 32 is smoother than 64 for BIAB and drivers.

I really wouldn't agree with that statement. If it works better for you on your machine, ... that's good.

For most folks, I think the opposite would be true. Even tho some 32 bit drivers and software aren't compatible with 64 bit.

Next comes 128 bit. They don't just double the numbers for the heck of it.

I don’t agree with that statement either. I have a 64 bit Win 7 system and it runs BiaB just fine. It loads quickly and generates and regenerates parts very quickly.

The problem was with the drivers. Like I have said in the past some of my hardware either did not have drivers or drivers that didn’t work properly, mostly Vista drivers that may work with Win 7.

But I’m glad you are up and running again.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I suspect the issue is the AMD Turion CPU. I will add the disclaimer that I am NOT a fan of AMD. I prefer Intel, but that's just me. I also use nothing but Western Digital drives, etc....

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

My system's stability improved dramatically when I switched from Windows 7 32-bit to 64-bit.

It is all about the drivers if there are problems in 64-bit, but that problem is disappearing quickly.

I also have a 64 bit, Win 7 laptop. No problems with BIAB. Runs just as smooth as it did with my old 32 bit laptop. Later, Ray

I also have 7/64 and it has proved to be the most trouble-free OS that I've ever owned. BIAB loaded flawlessly and hasn't even hiccuped once. I'm running Intel Core i7 and 8 Gig of RAM. Rendering to .wav is extremely fast and BIAB loads instantly.

I also think that is the bottleneck here, but not because it is made by AMD, but because the particular design and Win7 64 don't get along all that well.
t
Microasoft has an interactive webpage that one can run on a puter and get a benchmark figure relating to how well a certain puter setup will run win7, the Turion scores as "able to run" but at the low side nuber-wise, and that test was for 32 bi IIRC.

Install XP SP3 32 bit on that lappy and BB should come alive.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
