Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me whether there are any midi styles that can do rock, county or jazz solo piano accompaniment? Or, are some of the full band midi styles easily modified to accomplish this?
Thanks!

Hi bharris,
The answers to both questions are YES.
Plenty of ways to accompliosh this, I often just load a Style that sounds good to me with the song in question, and then Mute the Piano part and play the piano myself.
When I used to use BiaB in live performance, I would just Mute all Piano part before starting the session by Rightclicking on "Piano" and turning it Red for Muted. It stays that way until you either click it back on or close down BB, the next time you start up BB all Muted parts return to Unmuted again.

Hi Mac,
Thanks for your quick response. Actually, I am looking for midi styles that just have piano - in other words, BIAB should generate a solo piano accompaniment in rock, jazz and country styles. If you know of any styles that work well for this purpose, please let me know. Thanks!

There's too many to list. How about the 20 or so Piano Real Tracks that are specifically named Solo Accompaniment? There's the brand new sensational RT's by Nashville player John Jarvis. Killer country and southern rock piano work. Then there's tons of midi ones, for rock start with the Jerry and Dr John styles. Jazz has a bunch of them. You just have to solo the piano parts and listen. Some of course are designed to comp with a band so the part would probably be too sparse to work as solo accompaniment but I've muted some that were too busy but those would probably work for what you want.
If you're really picky you will hear certain things when you solo a part that would be covered up in a mix. Especially a RT piano. Primarily it's the pedal sustain problem on slower stuff. The reason is the RT is being chopped up by the program based on the chords you entered so some of the chord transitions are choppy rather than smooth but over all they still sound pretty good.

Solo Piano Accompaniment?? This is unclear to me but do you want a piano to comp (accompany) for you or do you want a piano to solo. Comping implies a study Rhythm while soloing will take the Lead. Both are available and, yes, I would reccommend the RT's which sound fantastic. also fome very nice guitar comping available in a jazz style,

Yes - comping. I would like the piano to provide a sturdy rhythm accompaniment (chord progressions, but not just playing the block chords) for rock, jazz and country soloing. I know that the real tracks are very good, but in this particular case I really need to rely upon the midi styles.

Got ya, wish I could help but I long ago moved almost entirly to the use of RTs for my work, so don't have a quick list of goot midi styles. I am sure they are there, but one problem with BIAB is you do have to do a lot of hunting at times.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
