This original song, I Don't Know Why, was written by my buddy Chris and me back in 2001. It was originally done as a BIAB MIDI arrangement sequenced and mixed in PowerTracks, which was fine at the time. In this case, I updated it using RealBand with all RealTracks plus a little guitar by Chris, as well as using the TC-Helicon harmonizer for the chorus. Hope you enjoy. This song was copyrighted (c) 2001 by Christopher Werle and John Ford

Nice job, on my system sounds like the Vox could be brought up a bit, but very nice effort all around.

John,
RT's sound good. I do agree with Danny that your vocals could come up a little. (I had a little trouble making out some of the words.) Other than that, it sounds good to me!

Well, it's actually Chris singing and he always sings softly; I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the nice comments. I really like this song.

Maybe if you posted the words, it would make it easier. But then again, if you have to post the words, they probably need to come up in the mix. I like the song, too! Steve

Well, since you asked, Steve, here are the lyrics:
1. So many times I tried to tell you just how much you mean to me. Now the winds of change have blown us far apart. When I think of what we had, it almost breaks my heart. [to Chorus]
Chorus And I don't know why I said goodbye to you. The reason's unclear, so hard to believe, but it's true. Of all of the things in this world that I had to do, I don't know why I said goodbye to you.
2. So much love we shared between us, didn't know just what we had. Tried to keep the fire burning, ever strong. Foolish pride cast love aside the day that we went wrong. [to Chorus]
3. All that's left of you are mem'ries, fading dreams of things that were. Finally learned that love was right there, all along. Wish that I could turn back time to where we both belong. [to Chorus]
I don't know why I said goodbye to you.

J ohn,
I like this song very much. You're friend's voice is kind of like mine not much power there but I could make out the lyrics. .

That's a very enjoyable song indeed. The little guitar lick panned left is very hooky, and just right! The solo in the middle is very tasteful as well, was that Chris as well?
The vocal seems oddly dry to me, and I feel that a small touch of reverb would make it sit better in the mix; it sounds a little 'separate' from the backing at the moment.
The fade at the end has been cut off for some reason?
This song has a lot going for it, John and I'm finding it going round in my head!

VERY NICE!
I really like the flow of this one.
Did you bring up the vocals? They sound loud enough here. But I will echo John’s remark about the vocals sounding very dry.
Very tasty guitar work here.
Again like John the ending just stopped. Was that supposed to be a lead fade out?
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Great choice of RT. I also agree with the vox being brought up in the mix.
Good job overall. Most enjoyable.

Haven't had a chance to bring up the vocals yet. Busy on another project (our choir director had me arrange then record him singing a bunch of songs for a woman who is donating money to the church in exchange for a CD of him singing several songs). I will get back to this song eventually.
It's a bummer that the day job gets in the way of having so much fun.

Real Tracks rock! This is good.
I just realized tonight that every time I hit play, a new way of playing the song is created. I like that!
