Take your time boys.
I'd rather wait for a lot more cool features and tracks than to rush to market.

Westside: I certainly agree with you. Probably also explains why it took me until I was over 40 to get married.

I always find it interesting when people can’t wait for the next upgrade. I’ll bet you that most of us do not use ALL of the features BiaB and/or RB has now! I know that I don’t even come close!

Run ducking for cover!

Sometimes the mid year upgrade doesn't appear until July, I think it was like this last year.

I remember that one year it was August. (I have a feeling this was either 2008.5 or 2009.5.)

--------------------------------------------

10) Suirrels got in the attic and writing code ain't the priority until Rocky and his buddies are gone

9) REAAALLLLLLLLY SLOOOOOWWWWWWW beta testers

8) Everybody at PG was having so much fun using 2012, they forgot to make 2012.5

7) Brent Mason wants more money

6) an eccentric old lady named Ellie bought up all the USB drives, and it just takes longer to copy 57 DVDs per order

5) just "because"

4) it's a conspiracy to make me even crazier

3) The Google redirect bug keeps redirecting their browsers to SONAR X1 ads, and they HATE that

2) all the developers are saying "ME??.. I thought YOU were working on 2012.5!"

and the #1 reason why 2012.5 isn't ready yet...

1) it's RHARVs fault

are you suggesting that people shouldn't upgrade until they've mastered every single feature in the version they already own? As Notes Norton has often said, a variety of features are in these products to meet a variety of musical needs... but not everyone has the same needs.

People enjoy the new features introduced in each release I'm sure.. but I'd guess that the vast majority of people who upgrade just want more styles/realtracks (and its cheaper to get them in an upgrade than it is to buy them in sets)

Of course not, however one shouldn’t upgrade for the sake of upgrading. If the new version has something I want and/or think I would like I will buy it, if not no. This is true of all of my software programs.

That statement was a “tongue-in-cheek” statement hence the “run and ducking comment”! I’ guess I forgot the

no worries, Mario, I knew your comment was to be taken as tongue in cheek. But, the comment was a valid enough observation that I wanted to honor it with a real answer instead of my customary wink and an exit.

Dear Mom and Dad,

well, its fathers day and still no news on BIAB 2012.5. Oh, by the way, Dad... happy fathers day, even though you're dead. You were a good father, and I still love you.

However, The anxiety that I'm experiencing by not having the latest greatest version of BIAB is in a way your fault, because you bought me that first guitar in 1964 after I saw the Beatles in HARD DAYS NIGHT. (I wonder if they slept in a parking lot for a week before they wrote that song...?)

Sorry for blaming you... I don't actually believe in playing the victim card; but after watching the news for all these years, I'd have to say it seems to get results.

Anyway, I'm here camped out in the parking lot of PGMusic, waiting for version 2012.5 to be released. If you get this message send lightning or something so I know you're there. On second thought, send fried chicken and a 2 litre bottle of Pepsi. My arteries still have a pinhole of blood flow, and maybe the fried chicken will change that.

More later

I will be runnng and ducking with you my friend as what I don't use in BIAB and Realband far outweighs what I do use. In fact I can't remember the last time I even booted RB . . . sad I know.

Real Tracks are defitely a drawing card; but, updates always include some cool new features too. Its all good. I like to see what they're going to come up with next. For example, I never saw Elastique coming, but it made a huge difference in useability of the real tracks. The audio loops are something I've hoped for for a long time, and now they're here. I'm kind of expecting some MIDI enhancements because of the way the MIDI crowd participated in the MIDI IMPROVEMENTS wishlist... but we never know WHAT they'll come up with until its here.

I like surprises.

The mixer was another totally unexpected improvement, especially incorporating the ability to do a per-track DXi/VSTi, along with effects.

Yes, I'm always impressed how things that none of us requested or even envisioned make it into new releases, and immediately become features we cannot do without.

IMO, that's characteristic of a company that has a vision. They know their strengths, and they build on them. Because they know where they're going, they can incrementally lay the correct foundation, block by block.

Or not. But that's been my impression of PGMusic for several years now.

A succession of logical decisions rarely happens randomly... it almost always happens as the result of a long range plan.

Dear Mom and Dad,
well, it's 6/19/2012 at 8:36 am ET, and still no 2012.5

But that's OK, I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. However, did you know that living in the elements (rain, dew, sun etc)for an extended period of time makes your whole body into something resembling a raisin, only far less appealing? Dice some apples onto me and add Mayo and I'd be the worst waldorf salad ever. But enough talk about food, since you never did send the fried chicken. The mosquitoes are starting to look appetizing... but to eat one would be cannabalistic, since there's more of my blood in them than there is in me at this point.

PS this will be my last correspondence since lack of food and blood is making me dizzy and unable to focus. I've fallen down so many times the parking lot has multiple indentations shaped like my face. Hopefully 2012.5 is not far away, and I can go home and pick the tarmac out of my teeth.

Your loving son,

Pat

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
