Got an email asking about the hardware we used for this project. It was actually created on a Dell laptop using a small Tascam US-144mkII audio/midi interface. Mic was a Heil PR40 into a DBX vocal strip. Amazing what you can do with relatively inexpensive setups these days.

Hey Bob,

Wow 8 hours from start to finish is amazing! Just goes to show you what an incredible asset this software can be.

I like the song too and while the production lacks the normal "sheen & polish" that I've come to expect from you... It has what I'm hearing as a "live nightclub recording" thing going for it that I really like.

Anyway it's a great job! (especially in 8 hours)

Greg

PS I hope you get the $20,000!!!

That particular STY really does have a "live sound" to it. Not sure why. But I was looking for an Allman Bros sound and this style seemed to have it. For some reason it didn't lend itself to our usual "sheen & polish" as you say. But it seemed to fit the raw, fast-driving, need-for-speed vibe the client was looking for, so we used it pretty much "as is." Took the Vette out when we were done to test mix on the Bose system. Really seemed to add something to the cruising experience....although the Vette doesn't really need any help in that department.

Thanks for listening,
Bob

The song is excellent. As you say, it's hard to believe a recording and production of this quality was whipped up so quickly using such relatively modest hardware. Also, cool key shift midway through the song...

When will the contest winner be announced? Good luck on getting the $20k!

Another big winner from Hawgly!

I love the raw live feel this one has. Great job!

Two thumbs up and good luck!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Thanks guys. Glad you like our song. BTW...we eventually found out that we were not chosen the winner of this listing. Guess were were a little too redneck for those NYC boys. However, all is not lost. The song has generated interest in other areas that promise an even bigger payday. Onward and upward.

Thanks for listening

Cool song. Good sound.

Somehow I do get the feeling I would enjoy it even more riding in that vette. LOL!

Just wondering...has it helped anyone that we made the songfile (SGU) available? If so I'll continue linking to them when I post. It seems easier to me if I can see the arrangement in BIAB along with how people create intros, stops, key changes, and endings.

Hi Bob,

I have been impressed by all of your songs that I have listened to on this forum and appreciated that you posted the biab file for this one because I'd like to get to the next level of using BIAB for more realistic arrangements with the pushes, shots, holds, breaks, etc. It's always great to be able to see some real examples of using these features.

thanks!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
