Another short ditty that we wrote and named after the geographic area where we live -- The Fall Line.
- All tracks are BIAB Bluegrass Realtracks with the exception of the one vocal track.
- The vocal track (my wife) was recorded with a USB Blue Mic.
- The realtracks were saved as individual mono files and moved to Gargeband.
- All mixing and effects were done within Garageband and the final product was an AIFF file (MP3 posted here).
We have created a lot of country rock oriented tracks with BIAB and I find that genre easier to work with than bluegrass. It may be because of having played BG for years we are overly critical of our endeavors. Dunno about the rest of you but I have to often generate a 6-8 tracks and use segments of each one to get just the rhythm guitar or bass track that I want. Often the perfect "G run" is all that is useful on a complete BIAB track and I have to paste it repeatedly over another track and on and on. Not whining...it's actually fun -- well before it gets tedious. And then the solos....it's a real challenge to piece them together to where if they don't actually hint of the melody -- at least they don't distract from it. Pardon the ramble!

This is a great use of BIAB and it sounds fantastic! Vocals are mixed in perfectly.
Great song.

Your wife has a super voice. I hope you do more songs with her.
Your arranging and mixing skills are really good. This has a live vibe to it.
Great song.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Excellent job. Love the lyrics and Jennie's voice is superb. Some of her phrasing and voice quality are reminiscent of a young Loretta Lynn.
I don't know about everyone else but I do a lot of "piecing together" to create a song. Especially with vocals. I'll usually do seven or eight takes, all the way through, and then sit down and cut and paste the best phrases onto a new track. Few people can sing a song through perfectly and "punching in" a partial take often results in the dynamics not being the same as a full-song performance. Anyway, it's a clinical process and the perfection you achieve lasts forever.
Nice work,
Bob

Sounds good Mootsman. I like Jennie's singing too.
The realtracks for me are like colors to create my own painting. I almost always edit my realtracks to better fit the song. And I may generate quite a few tracks before I get what I'm after - especially when auditioning tracks from different styles. That makes the process a bit longer because I'm experimenting to see what else might work together. You're right it can get frustrating at times but overall it's quite fun for me. Especially when it's done and I like it. LOL! Some people here say they like to regenerate a few bars over and over. I'm more of a cut and paster which I do mostly in RB because I like the easy edit window for the real tracks there. I can get pretty OCD so I guess the RT's fit my personality. LOL!
Keep up the good work.

Very nicely done! My first thought was that it was live instead of RealTracks. Jennie's got a lovely voice, which makes the banjo break at 0:30 too long... because I've got to wait for it to finish before I get to hear her back on the vocals!

That sounded mighty nice to me. I've always found that adding my own guitar parts where needed solves a lot of those problems (even though the BIAB guitarists are way better than me).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
