I have BIAB 2012 and have 2572 styles in the style picker and was bored yesterday so I did a search for *.sty in my BIAB folder and 5539 were found.
Many doubles of course but many I had never seen or heard of before. They were from folders like BLUEJAMC, CGSOLOS and some, in the root folder, I had made myself and thought I had lost!
I then found that with BIAB running and a song loaded I could click on the sty in the search folder and this would change the style of the song open in BIAB. A bit random tho'and then there is the problem of the number of extra styles and how to quickly add them to the style picker.

Can someone please explain to me in simple terms how to use a midi keyboard if I hook it up to a laptop via its usb port.
Which programme do I need on the computer and what is the benefit of sending midi data to a screen from a keyboard over other methods of getting sound into ones computer.
I have never used a midi instrument in this way. I have only ever used a NOtation creation programme to create a score then I play the audio into Audacity. From there I can create a wav or Mp3 file. This is so simple that I cannot fathom out what advantage if any there might be by using a Midi keyboard as an input device, other than giving me a broader "sounds pallette"? Not something I have to necessarily have for what I do.
Having seen what a midi display looks like on-screen and sounds like when played I am not all impressed. It sounds like punctuated music that makes no sense to me.
Why would I want to muck about with altering midi displays when I can just record written scores and end up with a playable audio file without going Midi?
I understand that the "engine" for what I do is midi but that is not what I am talking about. It is this thing about using something like ProLogic that I dont get. I gave one guy the op to show me "the fantastic things" he said he could do with ProLogic and a midi file of one of my songs. It sounded like absolute rubbish and so I gave the idea of midi involvement away altogether.
What is it that I am missing........can someone please explain?

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
