A simple song... a fairly simple production. (Perhaps a bit cliche).
Hope you enjoy it. But if you don't... you're welcome to say why (not)...

It'll Come To me

RealTracks.
RealTracks in song: 366:Bass, Electric, Country Ev 065
RealTracks in song: 1264:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopShiningA-B Ev 120
RealTracks in song: 649:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopRockBritHeavy Ev 120 (A:8ths)
RealTracks in song: 996:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockLACrispA-B Ev 120
RealDrums in Song: NashvilleEven8^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

I added the acoustic guitar tracks - and, of course... the vocals. The harmonies are courtesy of the BIABettes....

Floyd,

Two things always hit me, your story-telling lyrics and your crystal clear voice.
Great again.
Boom da-da boom, boom da-da boom, love the base addition to the overall beat of
the piece. Its an integral part of the song.

Also the touches of harmony in your song was nice for me.

Naturally, I like the Piano in your work.

Thanks for sharing! I only listened to it three times.

I loved it... moves right along, catchy, radio-ready, maybe car music, etc. No criticism whatsoever about the musicality or the mix -- loved the harmonies.

The thing that bothered me about the content, or the story, was that I couldn't figure out why the guy was so confident and upbeat about how this romance thing was gonna work out...what did he have up his sleeve, or wherever he keeps it? Most guys who are tongue-tied tend to stay that way -- was he maybe counting on his friend Jim Beam? Maybe there's some subtlety or complexity that I just didn't get, but....

I liked the "tip of my heart" metaphor and have once used it myself.

Great work, as usual.

Cool song...I really liked how to fit in some of the lyrics...reading ahead, I was anticipating "eloquently" coming out as an awkward "eloquentLY", but you wove it in beautifully so that it was sung on the natural accent. And your line about "tip of my heart"--very inventive! Thanks for sharing this.

Frank, eric, Don, Steve, Tommy,

Thanks for listening and for the positive comments. I thought this was "kinda ok", so the "more positive tone" of the comments is a nice surprise.

Brad,

If you look again at the lyric, it's not that he's "tongue-tied" - it's that the things he's tried/said so far haven't done it, so he'll keep trying until they do.

This song was actually written about writing song (and trying to get them recorded). An unrequited love song to the music business. I've ALWAYS hated songs where the writer actually talks about writing songs (Barry Manilow's "I Write The Songs" being the classic offender). I was thinking about the fact that I had (obviously) not yet "said it right" (written something so "perfectly" that it gets recorded). But I wasn't ready to give up - and would continue to search for that perfect combination of words/melody that would be undeniable.
Believing that eventually..."It'll Come To Me". And, although it still hasn't happened,
I still haven't given up...

Tano,

Glad to see you mention the "fit" of "eloquently". It's my favorite thing about this song.

Excellent all around!

It's interesting that you should pick on "I Write the Songs", because that song isn't really about being a songwriter or the process of writing songs at all. Have a closer listen to the lyrics, or just check out Wikipedia.
Quote:

Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: "The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip."

These are the kind of songs that make me say "Man, I hate you" because you wrote it an I didn't. Extremely well done. The way the lyrics have a flow to them.... I can hear maybe a group like Lady A doing that song, or a solo like Chesney or Travis. And we can all say we knew you (and Pickles) back when....

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

+1 I like it. Eloquently done Floyd.

Much more optimistic than my little rant idea back when - "Sorry I Have To Pass On Your Love". LOL!

SD, Guenter, Josie, John, Robert - thanks for the nice comments.

David - my apologies to Bruce Johnston (and God, I guess - I am not apologizing to Barry). I still say they need to write about something other than songwriting...

eddie - man.. I love that you hate me. Can't think of a better compliment. BTW, if you run in to any of those people - feel free to pitch it to them - we could work out a publishing deal for ya.

Bud - that's good to know... now, if you want to send those KRK's my way, I could send you a shipping address...

Hi Floyd,

This song is every bit as good as all your others. It sounds professional on absolutely every level.

What really appealed to me was the way you colored the hook, "It'll come to me", with the verses' lyrics. In verse 1, the hook amplified the notion of "melt her resistance and win her heart" whereas in verse 2, the amplification resulted in making the phrase "golden key" stand out (at least to me) as a symbol for finding love. Because of this, there was definitely an increase in emotional intensity as the song progressed. Really well done!

All the best,
Noel

P.S. The rhyme "golden key" and "eloquently" is genius!

This is really great. Very natural sounding, but hooky, nice melody, good vocals and production. Nice lyrical touches like "tip of my heart." Not sure what he's been doing lately, but I could hear Collin Ray doing a nice job on this.

Thanks,
Bruce

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
