What, Pickles was busy?

Nice stuff. You really turn lyrics well. Is that ALL RB or is some of the supporting guitar live?

I smashed the hell out of my car today. When the cops came I told him "Officer, that guy was BOTH texting and drinking a beer." The cop said "Sir, he has every right to do that. I mean, it's HIS living room..."

Very nice. Really good lyrics and vocal!

If this is for a woman to sing you should add something like “ when are going to stop for directions?”

Great song!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

And "I really need to go to the bathroom."
And "Slow down. What's your hurry?"
And "I don't know why you took THIS route."

I know I am looking to get married again REAL soon......

Floyd,

Really enjoyed the song.

The vocals with the lyrics are strong, but
not forced.

Your enunciation with "what I'd say" are difficult lyrics
was great.

I sang quite a bit for senior gigs for 3 years until they
threatened to run me outta town.

Anyway again the vocals timing and clarity with the music was great.

FWIW, my wife only says this..."WATCH OUT". once in awhile.
She's 100 times better backseat driver than I.
I'm a lousy "shotgun" rider.

Hi Floyd,

Really like the beat and this is one of your best mixes so far. Painted a good picture of the story. Nice tag at the end. Enjoy your singing and your songs.

Hi Floyd,

Words and phrases that splashed into my head while I was listening were: "he's done it again", "magnificent", "love the way the rhyme scheme drives the chorus - speeding it up, slowing it down - just like being in a car", "setting up the situation in verse 1 and then using it as a metaphor for verse 2 is definitely something I have to try!", "the writing, the mix and the arrangement are spot on, perfect".

I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

All the best,
Noel

P.S. great chord progression

eddie - this is ALL BIAB. I added nothing. Pickles was indisposed - getting ready for a Halloween party.

Mario, Frank, Josie, Guenter, Tano, Danny - thanks for the listen and the comments. I do appreciate it...

Noel - I always enjoy your comments/insights. You obviosly think about (and understand) lyrics in a way that most may not...

Hi Floyd,

I've been lucky. Pat Pattison (teacher of John Mayer, Gillian Welch, just to name a couple of his many students) has visited Australia many times and I've been to 13 or 14 weekend workshops of his. He's brilliant. Maybe that's why he's a professor at Berklee College.

Pat's three books ...
  • Writing Better Lyrics (2nd Ed.)
  • Essential Guide To Lyric Form And Structure
  • Essential Guide To Rhyming
... are, in my opinion, unparalleled (I have around 30 songwriting books and I've read them all). Pat's books are uniquely the best on the market in relation to understanding how lyric rhythm and rhyme work in partnership to create motion and emotion. What I've found is that as I get more experience at how to use the lyric-writing tools Pat teaches, the happier I'm becoming with my songs. (I've given up counting how many times I've re-read his books.)

Mind you, you're already a master so I'm not quite sure why I'm telling you all this! Maybe someone will read it and find it useful

All the best,
Noel

P.S. I smiled when I read your post because just this morning I was thinking that maybe I should run a small, free course on lyric writing for people who are not sure what to do and who would like to learn some of the basics about it. Six years ago, I had absolutely no idea how to write lyrics. Music was never a problem but words were. Then Pat came along and showed me the science and art behind the process and now I can compose entire songs

Lyrics and vocals are great! Love the arrangement. This tune has a certain commercial appeal to it. I could easily hear that on mainstream radio.

Great job!

Cheers,
Mike

Noel - my advice - go for it. there is nothing better than getting some songwriters together to talk about songwriting. sharing ideas and insights. you never know what you might learn from whom. or who's writing you might advance with the slightest nudge...

jpt3 - thanks for the listen.

Mike - from your lips to God's ears... (or someone else in the music business).

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
