Hi All.

Sorry if this is convered somewhere else - but I couldnt find it. I did use the search ... honest.

Here's my problem. When I import a (MP3) song using ACW, I first need to set bar one. I've got that sorted I think, and once set correctly it all plays nicely in the ACW window. There is about 8 bars intro, then bar one, and then away.

But when I send it to BIAB, it loses the 8 bar intro, and all the timing is wrong. ANy ideas why this happens?

Thanks
Tom

Two things:
1.Think about what you said."Set Bar One" then you say you set bar 9 as bar 1.Bar 1 has to be set as the first beat of the first full bar. This includes the intro.
2.To get the best results first set bar 1 then start playback and tap F8 on the 1st beat of every bar. DO NOT MISS ANY.Then send it to BIAB.

If you miss one it fills it in for you (and continues trying to fill them in until stopped). Sometimes it does a fine job after 2 measures of tapping.
If you're late tapping one you can go slide it into place later.

But setting bar one correctly is important. Selecting the correct choice in the popup when sent back is important too.

I was thinking I'm in RB. It's ACW although the same is a little different in the way it works. That dialog when you send to BIAB is very important. It does a good job of making a tempo map to line things up.I use the ACW all the time to make covers. I don't remember the last time I sat and wrote out a tune on paper and then entered the chords one by one on the chord sheet. Wonderful toll once you get used to it.

Hi Guys

Thanks for replies, and sorry for slow response.

I tried setting bar 1 at first whole bar, ie skipping the upbeats, and this sounds fine in ACW window. All the bars come in spot on. Theres a grey bar marked 0 representing the upbeats, then off it goes on bar one.
BUT I still get a problem when i send to BIAB. The chord layout looks the same as it did in the ACW window, but without the upbeats bar. But when I play, the audio track start OK, but nothin happens on the chord screen for about 5 beats, so the chords screen is alwys 5 beats behind where it should be.
I've played around with this for ages - I cant see any other way of doing it. I'm also heartily sick of the track I was trying to play!!
Cheers
Tom

"BUT I still get a problem when i send to BIAB. "

Slow down this process. When you send to BiaB, do you see a dialogue with options? Or does it just go back to BiaB?

Hi. When I'm happy it sounds OK in ACW window, I hit the button marked ..... ahhhhh hold on.

I've just done this again, and as it imports I get a ACW utilities window with the option to "make a tempo map to sync auidio file with midi" or similar. I never did this cos I didnt think I was using a midi file.

However, when I hit that buttoms its all good! s I think I'm sorted - thanks for the pointer.

Just wonder why BiAB doesnt do this by default.

Many thanks
Tom

This dialog doesn't come up in RB.It's a little easier.MIDI is used as the clock to speed up and slow down the audio file that may not be of perfect tempo. This way you can add RTs or midi parts and they will follow those slight tempo changes.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
