Hope I did it justice, the style and music of course.
The Old RT instruments are simply fantastic.
I can almost see a guy on stage when the trumpet plays.

****** Song Summary *************
Title: Old Chicago Blues

Key=Eb , Tempo 140, Length (m:s)=3:20
5 bar intro, 109 bar chorus, from bar 6 to bar 114. Repeat None

Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Song is saved with bar changes for Volume Changes,
Style is _BGY_OTR.STY (Chicago W old Trmp,Clar,AltoSax
(Was primarily a midi style, modified completely to this)

RealTracks in style: ~1792:Tuba, DixielandMedium Sw 110
RealDrums in style: NashvilleShuffle^08-a,b:Sidestick
RealTracks in style: ~1550:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CountrySwing Sw 140
RealTracks in style: ~1788:Banjo, Tenor, Rhythm DixielandMediumA-B Sw 110

RealTracks in style: 442:Trumpet, Older Sw 140 (Bluesy)

RealTracks in style: 764:Clarinet, Soloist Older Swing Sw 140 (Bluesy)

RealTracks in style: 438:Sax, Alto, Older Sw 140 (Bluesy)

*******************
In BIAB panned piano right 30, banjo left -30
Panned clarinet right 10, Sax left 10 to similate stage positioning.
Trumpet player dead center.

In RealBand made a lot of Gain changes, few cuts, several -24 db suppressions.
Result was OK, worried about recovery back to original. Primarily on the piano.

Used PG Dynamics gain 2 + defaults.
Used Sonitus Multiband with Medium compression preset.
Used Stereo expander set to full preset.
Used Audacity to create the 320 kbps with meta entries.

********************************************

Few things learned from you folks is to make sure in BIAB
rendering position for panning correctly. Also tried in RB to get the "melody" levels
closer to one another. This is very difficult over the entire song... Required
quite a few gain boosts where the RT rendering weakened quite a bit.

I encourage comments, Please.

As soon as you folks throw some gentle tomatoes at me I will go back correct
song and build my video. Last 10 days to 2 weeks been working with
that using some nifty screen capture software. Project, lotta fun and been
fruitful.

After Floyd made his comments below I created the video with the music.

Frank - a very enjoyable "listen". very nice mix on this one. all the way through. those last notes from the clarinet (5 of them I think - notes, I mean) were a "bit of a bump". I think it might work better without them - I could, of course, be wrong about that, but you might try it...

Floyd,

Will take a listen to that. Using the F5 in BIAB to switch instruments
often leaves items like that. Have removed a few of them. Cannot even begin
to count the number of times ME listened, so this went by me...

Thanks for compliments on "listen" and mix. Still learning.

As mentioned in PM found the Bump. Fixed, created video and posted in
original part of this thread. Again Thanks

Hi Seeker,

I just love the sound of this song.
I can see myself sitting watching the band play.

I also like how you have given information about how you mixed the song.

Well done

Regards
George

Sounds great to me. Nice mix and give and take between the instruments. Sounds like you worked hard on getting everything to sound the way you wanted it to -- congrats, it shows!

Frank -

Dig this one, but I hear more Nawlins Dixieland than Chitown in it. Laissez le bon temps rouler!

Floyd,

Of course thanks for the Bump suggestions...Fixed.

George,
With the Realtracks on my Monitors and reasonable mix
I tend to feel the same way. Listening to a "Live" musician.

I post the how-to for two reasons, first to maybe help some newbie
to the system. Second PG folks recommend that information about the
song is posted with it.
Might be too wordy, dont know.
Took a lot of listening and reading other members information posts
to do even this much.

Thank you for the nice compliments.

Chris,
Thank you.

Kevin,

Part of what makes the change of instrument simpler is to do it inside BIAB
with the magic F5.

Thank you for generous compliments.

Bob,

Other than thru airport, never been inside New Orleans. Had three business
trips to Plaquemine tho. Had offers to go with other company travelers to N.O.
, but due to the very heavy partY atmosphere they were in, took a pass.
Sat in my Embassy Suites hotel, munching on 4lb bag of crawdads and drink
my wine. Even back then hated hangovers going into crucial meetings.
I grew up in Buffalo City, Wisconsin. Right on the back-waters of the Mississippi
so always felt a kinship to Cajun's and their lifestyle.

Thank you, glad you liked it.

Rafa,

Appreciate you comments. Gotta give Realtracks a lot of credits.

SpaceDog,

Commentary is a very helpful tool for all of us. Dr. Gannon pointed out
a bad mistake in one of my Jazz songs, a 5/4 realdrums which I changed
immediately.
Thank you for your compliments.

Tommy,

Ya...on the name, a series of progressions were Chicago type, but killed the
Deserved name using Dixieland tracks. Do love the old style RT's tho.
When Ya don't know a lot about particular genre, don't name it too specific.

Thanks for compliments, and you have a nice day also.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
