Hi everyone,

Over the past few years, I have been using BIAB mostly as a learning tool - practicing by playing along to progressions, and so on. However, I decided over the weekend to experiment with exporting Realtracks to my DAW and then playing a melody/solo over top of it with my guitar.

The result is a slow gypsy jazz ballad. You can find it on my YouTube channel here:

Ah, I just noticed the list of items from Peter Gannon that I'm supposed to post with the song. Here they are:

- Title: "Dao's Gypsy Ballad"

- Backing tracks generated by RealTracks, lead guitar played by me.

- The RealTracks used (from memory, since I don't have the file on the computer I'm using at the moment) are:
Bass, Acoustic, GypsyJazzBallad Sw 110
Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm GypsyJazzBalladGonzalo Sw 110
Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm GypsyJazzBalladJohn Sw 110
However, I can't remember which drum track I used.

- Other programs used in the production:
Reaper Digital Audio Workstation
Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4
iZotope Ozone 4 (mastering plugin)

- Effects used in production:
No effects on the RealTracks. I used Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 on the guitar, with a simple Twang Reverb amp emulation and some rack reverb after the mic.

Thanks Sinbad. I'm not familiar with Martin Taylor, but I will go check out his stuff on your recommendation.

Nice job Brett!

Gotta ask: what guitar did you play?

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
