Hi Nelson,
Like the song, the vocal, and nicely produced.

My interpretation is a father whose daughter is about to elope with some guy Dad doesn't know. He wants the best for her and he wants to change her mind. He then considers that he and her mother were once in the same boat.

Super song, lyrics, vocal, arrangement and mix.

I agree with Austin.

This brought back many memories as my father-in-law did not want his daughter to marry me!

Thank you all for the kind words and your comments with regard to the meaning of the lyric. We are polishing it up a bit and then descide where it goes. It seems alot of people have been in this type of situation. Thanks Austin

Nelson: I think it's a beautiful song, tastefully delivered.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, since you asked for "interpretations," and you make it sound like there's a mystery here. I think maybe the Dad sees the Mom in the daughter's eyes, and that the Mom has long since died, perhaps giving birth to the daughter. If this is morbid or overly complex, I am sorry, but I listened to it several times, and there's something in the first verse that tells me that story.

Me too! We were married so quick that her Family were convinced she HAD to. 8 years later - - out popped our first one. Even an elephant is quicker than that!!
I can imagine that conversation taking place though.
Mind, in the end we all have to go where our Heart is.
Well we've been married 46 years(I was a Child Bride!lol)and are still romantic and very much in Love. She may have swung the axe a few times and missed maybe.
I dont hear that the mother has died - I think its rhetorical.
Superb.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
