Josie - so glad you found something that touched you (looking forward to your next!)

Joanne - thanks for taking the time to listen...

John and Bob - thanks for "dropping by"... I know the strings seems like an obvios addition at the end.. I just haven't been very successful at doing that...

Kevin - thanks for that... I tried to listen for what you may be hearing, but I'm missing it. If you get back here and can think of a way to pinpoint it, I'd be interested...

Very nice. The piano has an almost Eagles "Desperado" feel to it. Excellent mix of vocal and single instrument. Perfection is not when nothing left to add...but when nothing left to take away.

Floyd,

Absolutely beautiful! I also preferred the solo version. This one is so intimate, the solo version gives it the best presentation, in my opinion. I do agree with John, a nice string quartet towards the end would be a nice touch (but then, I play the violin, so I may be just a little biased )

Very nice!

Steve

Excellent Lyrics and singing, I get a error when trying to authorize Sample Tank too. Doesn't sound like you need it! Great Job FJ!

FLoyd..just getting to the message boards after being away for a week...I listened to both...after the solo, I thought "this is really great". After the BGV, I thought "Still great...but I would tone/mute/soften the BGV's a bit. I think that -- as good as the BIABettes are -- it can still have a little of the "computer generated" sense to it, particularly on quiet, personal performances like this..I felt a little of that.
Great composition..thanks for stepping out of your normal groove for us.

Really nice. Listening to all the versions, I think the quartet version sounds a bit too "thick", and not as personal as the first two version. It's also more obviously synthetic.

I've got the same reaction to the piano RealTracks as Kevin does. They're lovely sounding, but the transitions can be a bit jarring. I think it's more obvious on the piano than other instruments - even the guitar - because of the multiple strings. The ringing tones of the prior phrase cut, and there's a "thump" at the start of the phrase, perhaps from the pedaling. Since it happens on the beat, it's easy to cover with other instruments.

In any event, it's an excellent song and a great vocal performance - plus, a great mix that's clean and balanced. It's a real joy to listen to.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Bud - Thanks. Coming from a guy who gets the most out of the fewest number of tracks, that means something...

Steve - Thanks. Suppose the next time I need a string quartet I can get you to "pitch in"?

Tommy - appreciate that, man.

Tano - thanks for listening - and the feedback...

David - always appreciate when you "put in your 2 cents" - always thoughtful critiques. I'll have to listen more closely to the piano tracks from here on...

This got me thinking, so I put together some RTs and exported them to my DAW for some closer examination. For the most port, it sounded great.

But there were a number of places where the "splices" were pretty obvious, especially where one phrase was faded out (artificially) and joined to another that faded in. It sounds sort of "backwards" because the initial attack is removed.

I think this is one of the few places where the MIDI Super Tracks have an edge over the RealTracks.

Anyway, that's just me nitpicking. The song is still nice, whatever perceived flaws there are in the piano track.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
