Recently saw a great documentary: "Life After Django"..story of a gathering of 100 (!!) guitarists in France all playing Django-style..it was fabulous guitar playing..decided to come up with a homage.
Used all the great RT's for gypsy jazz. Made my own chords to create a kind of upward walking line. Let BIAB generate a melody..used most of it, with some tweaks. Had to leave in my vibe "guide melody" line--the intervals were really aggressive for my meager singing skills. Comments appreciated. THanks.

Django

Once in a blue moon a player
Could noodle oh so sweet;
Man, what lovely sounds that
Gypsy ax would make!
Out of the clear blue sky,
Hear those crazy jazz notes fly.

No one has heard of a player
Whose fingers were oh so fleet;
Django's his name,
And jazz his game;
Chords roar,
And his solos soar;
And he loves life..
Lives it big..
Lives it a whole lot.

He made his magic with
Only three fingers that really flew;
Dieux! His hot quintette could
Play it fast and true.
Off of the Paris streets,
He paved the way for modern beats.

Once in a while comes a brother who plays from his very soul.
Django had heart
From the very start;
Now he's gone,
But his fame lives on;
And he loved life..
Lived it big..
Lived it a whole lot.

Hey that sounds pretty good. I think your singing is just fine. It is amazing the guitar leads you can get out of BIAB! Pretty cool composition -- what was that "more weird" instrument in there. Please list you instruments used -- that would be helpful.

Very cool!! I saw the same special a while back and have been a fan of "hot club" music for years. I once played with a fantastic "Bela Fleck" style banjo player who loved Django. He wrote a great tune called "Redneck in the Hot Club." What's really special, also, about seeing your composition here is that my wife and I just cooked up a little 60s Django/Grapelli BIAB number called "Gypsy Ripple" to end our new CD with.

Nice lyrics also and very meaningful for adherents. Thanks for the listen. Can't wait to play it for her.

Hi Tano,

Another very creative work from your studio! I don't know too much about Gypsy jazz, but I've got to say that I enjoyed listening to this composition. It's very energetic and up beat.

All the best,
Noel

Yes, this is very creative and a good piece of music.

That “weird” sound comes in at the 0:10, 0:50, 1:27 and 1:58 marks. Nothing in your list made this sound.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

This is kind of quirky in a very good way. It was great fun listening to it. Great relentless energy and I like the lyrics.

Those who noticed the "weird" sound...it's on the bass RT...I went back to my BIAB-generated song file...it's there, too occasionally. I took it to be a "real" sound..like some kind of fingerboard "boing", and so I really didn't pay it any mind when I was building the track.
Is this something that I ought to shoot off to PG for look at, or are there other RT anomalies like this that others run into?

I liked listening.
Since "Hesitation" you found a new singing style.

+1 from me. Fun, quirky, and cool. Enjoyed it.

Sometimes there are anomolies that get recorded on the tracks. So far I've been lucky to not have anything I couldn't regenerate to get rid of or work around but there have been isolated tracks in the past that have been fixed in updates. You might want to let someone at pg know and they can decide about that noise.

Real tracks do have noise that is made by the musician who plays it, to me these noises are part of what makes it sound like a real person playing. You get piano pedal sounds along with bass fretboard thumps, guitar pick clicks, horn players breath, etc. Cool Song and progression!

Sounds fine to me. e.g. At 0:50 it is a 'skip' note where the bass player is playing a quick open 'a' note, which happens to slap/buzz briefly, but is musical and sounds fine to me.

Have Fun!
