Great song Danny, loved it. The guitar work was stellar. One phrase I would change where said after jambalaya I would say crawfish pie. Gives a shout back to ole hank.

Robh, it was actually in there for weeks but did not make the final cut. My 1st thought was (like you) everyone would sing that line automatically because of Hank's son. But at final cut I thought that using that strong a line from an iconic song would be a bit to presumptuous on my part. But just between us chickens when I do this song live, sometimes I throw in the Craw fish Pie.

Cubanpete, thanks for the listen and kind words.

Hey Danny,

I really enjoyed this song... and it reinforces my conviction that there is something extra in songs that are written by performing musicians. To my ears this is clearly the song of a man who has spent a lot of time in front of live audiences. Good job! I see why you get so many bookings!

Beautifully done, both the song and the video.
That kind of thing - a "family" event - has all but disappeared in the UK.
And dancing OUTSIDE and IN THE DAYLIGHT???!! Unthinkable!
We holidayed in Longboat Key, Florida in September and these kind of things are "normal". Made me very jealous.
More of the same please Sir.
Ian

Pat,

Thank you for the kind words and observation re: live gigging as that is exactly what I want to do with my recordings, record them as if they were played to a live audience. In fact 99% of the time before I put anything in the can I play it at least 5-6 time before my audiences, with many tweaks and often as many style and lyric changes as well during these trial runs. Many trials and then every once in the while I get it right.

In fact this tune started as a 180 BPM 16 Bar Train, moved to a R&B style and finally to the end result. But BIAB makes these trials so easy these days. Heck I'd hate to think how long a process like this would take 20 years ago.

sixchannel,

Thanks you for the kind words and time to listen. And yes the family dances are indeed a big part of Louisiana heritage, no matter what part of the world our Louisiana ancestors came from this seems to be a tradition with everyone. Whether it be BBQ in Nawlins, Craw-fish Boils in Acadiana or Shrimp and Crab Boils down where I come from I would say not one weekend passes without some of these family outings and food fest going on. We really like to eat down here!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
