If you can help....

In my previous set up I had dual monitors. All was working. If I wanted to play one movie (such as a jazz tutorial) and have another minimised I could do so, getting sound from either one. Even if I wanted to watch two movies at the same time I could do so hearing sound from both.

This is not as crazy as it seems

Then I decided to upgrade my monitors. I bought two large Tvs and am using these. Nothing else is changed.

Now, I find that if I open movie one, I can hear it - OK. Then when I open movie two no sound (though I can still hear the first movie. If I do want to hear movie 2 then I MUST close down (not simply minimise) movie 1.
Other things work fine, for example I can hear sound from BIAB whilst watching/hearing the news. Its just moviews

Even if I use two different applications like for example Real player and Media Player - for movies I only get one sound. Any second third foruth movie I open is soundless.

I have checked COntrol Panel Sound, and have not found a button to tweak. The new monitors are connected via DVI (graphics card) - HDMI (TV) to my graphics card.

Audio driver is the same Saffire Mix control - checked the settings but really dont know what to look for.

I would have thought buying new monitors ,especially as they are plugged via DVI (no sound connection in DVI plugs) would make NO difference to Audio behaviour on the PC as all the audio is going out via firewire ot my Focusrite liquid 56 sound module

I am a stumped as to what this can be?

HDMI may be the reason, if your Audio is also coming in on the HDMI connect. Audio from that often goes to a DSP for more processing. It may be capturing the audio and is stingy about it.

I don't know if there's an answer to getting both to run audio at the same time, a lot depends on the particular scheme and programming as to whether it will or not.

Thank you venerable Mac.

On the back of hte monitors there are other outputs - two one labelled PC IN and looks like a VGA plug, the other is labelled PC Audio and is a sperate plug - mini jack type (or something like that).

Id there any mileage in connecting this way? DIV from graphics card to VGA? Using a DVI to VGA cable. I think I would get a lesser resolution of the screens?

BTW there is no DVI out on the TVs.

Maybe its time to give up on this one...

All you or I can do is experiment using the other available connections and see what you get.

Heck, I've found it to act differently on different but related models of the same brand and year, go figure. Really, I think such things as Audio on HDMI are part of a "feature set".

I'm confused, you mentioned that the monitors are connected via a DVI out to your computer graphic's card DVI in...that covers the video signal. Since DVI handles video only, how are you handling the audio back to your soundcard or interface? Maybe I miss understood.

In the actual Windows Playback Devices applet (right-click the speaker in lower right corner of screen, usually).

See what's enabled for sound. Try disabling the HDMI Audio output and see if things change.
Worth a shot; maybe Windows tried to adjust to the new setup and needs to be told to 'stay out of the way'.

Mountainside;
He said "all the audio is going out via firewire ot my Focusrite liquid 56 sound module"

maybe, my suggestion tests that theory.

Right, now that I reread it I understand. I've seen some monitors that have internal setup screens for configurations of inputs and outputs as well as use of HDMI and DVI. Just helped a guy out with that same problem earlier this week.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
