Hello:
Any suggestions would be appreciated:

I'm looking for Windows 7 disc burning software that will
1) Burn files to CD or DVD
2) Burn audio CDs from Wav files
3) Copy from one disc to another

I have ImgBurn and like it just barely.

PCmag.com says their favorite disc burning software is Ashampoo Burning studio 12 for $49
https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/3510/Burning_Software/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-12

Ashampoo also has Burning Studio 6 that they give away for free
https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pde/0710/Burning_Software/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-6/Details

I had never hear of the Ashampoo company before - I think it's based in Germany.

Has anyone had any experience with the Ashampoo disc burning software?

Do you have any recommendations for other disc burning software that you like?

Yes, I'm aware that you can do some of these tasks in Windows 7, but I kind of like using the software.

Thanks for any suggestions.

John

I use Windows Media player with Win 7.

Also another option is Coffee Cup Ripper.... Used to be free, now its $1.68

Should handle what you need to do.
Been purchasing Web Development software from them for about 5 years.
First class software, updates and company.

Has free trial, so try it out....

BTW...Disclaimer. no $$$ connection with them, just a fan of their products and support.

I use Express burn and it is free. The only thing is it will not rip a CD. To rip, I use Spesoft(free). Also Windows Media works. occ

Hi John,

I use "CD Burner XP" which, despite the name, works flawlessly with both CDs and DVDs and operates fine on Windows 7. It's completely free (no catches). If you're interested, you can check it out at the following link.

Hi John,

I also use “CD Burner XP” with my 64 bit Win 7 Pro system. It works flawlessly. I suggest that you check it out.

Can I ask what problems you're having with ImgBurn?

I have Ashampoo Burn Studio 2013 (a slightly cutdown version of BS12), which I got at Giveaway Of The Day awhile back. Decent software, definitely does the job. So I checked Ashampoo's web site, and it turns out that, for the next six days, they're having a sale -- spend $20, get $100 worth of software. Including Burn Studio 12. So now's definitely the time to get it, if you're going to.

You also might want to check out the various Nero products.

re ImgBurn: I've used it to burn backup files to CDs and DVDs without a problem but I haven't figured out how to burn an audio CD with it. Also, I don't think it does disc copying.

I'll check out these suggestions to see what might work best.

Thanks to everyone.

John: A-hah! Common problem. ImgBurn does things at a more basic level than a lot of burning programs (moreso than anything I've found besides CDex and MagicISO). Fortunately, there are a lot of helpful guides for doing things.

Copying a disk is actually a two-part operation -- creating an image file, then writing the image file to a disk. Most programs combine these steps into one, is all.

Burning an audio CD involves creating a CUE file. Don't freak out -- the example looks way more difficult than it is, because it focuses on the several possible ways to select audio files to go into the CUE file.

Filkertom:

Thanks for the tips on ImgBurn. I had suspected that disc copying involved something like that.

When I had my XP machine, I used a simple program by Sonic that burned files to disc, copied Disc-to-disc and burned audio CDs from Wavs -- all in a very simple GUI.

I was hoping to find something similar to that.

Ashampoo Burning Studio says it "Duplicates CDs and DVDs with ease, either on-the-fly or with disk caching."

Deep Burner says "Direct disk-to-disk copying is a cinch."

I guess I liked the simple interface of the Sonic program and was hoping there was something similar out there.
Thanks for the tips.

As Noel and MarioD said, CDBurnerXP has one of the best interfaces of any free or non-free CD/DVD burner. The only thing it will not do is copy a DVD. Actually, it does that too, but not all by itself (read about it in the FAQ).

I found InfraRecorder quite useful for burning at a time I needed to burn an ISO file, it does many other things as well though and totally free.

I decided to take advantage of the sale that Ashampoo was having on their Disc Burning Studio Program. This is the burning program that pcmag.com said was their editor's choice. For roughly the next 26 hours you can get up to $ 100 worth of select Ashampoo software for only $20, and the normally $49 Disc Burning Studio 12 is one of those programs.
https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd

So far, I've used it to copy discs, burn data to disc and make an audio CD from .WAV files.
It seems to work pretty well.

Thanks for everyone for their suggestions and special thanks to Filkertom for pointing out the current sale at Ashampoo.

Try Nero, I use it in burning CD or DVD. I love music so I really need a burner software. However, a recent study carried out in the UK hints at a direct link between the way individuals drive and the music they hear when driving.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
