Hey Floyd,

Another outstanding effort. Great job on the mix, vocals, etc.

Rodney's guitar work is excellent as well, love the tone & licks!

Floyd,

Another hit here! I always like your songs. Great turn of lyrics, and presentation of vocals, harmonies, and backing. And adding Rodney is the icing on the cake on this one!

Very nice!

Steve

Josie - thanks for having a listen.

Tom - thanks for the nice comments. Nothing against Mark K - have always loved his work, but in this case, I think the work Rodney did here is more interesting than what Mark did in Southbound!

Bud - Thanks for that!! Again, it comes down to... "They don't make 'em like they used to.. do they.."

ROG - appreciate that. An interesting observation - "very, very thick track" - This is one of the sparsest tracks I've done. Drums, bass, guitar and vocal. The perfect ingredients to create some magic. Rodney's guitar work was a huge part of that...

Kevin - Thanks, man.

Mario - Never too late. Appreciate you dropping by....

Danny - thanks!

Rodney - say what you will (and I appreciate your comments!)... your beautiful guitar work on this song took it to an incredible place. Often by the time I'm done mixing a song, I've heard it so many times that I don't want to hear it for a while. This one I just keep loading up and hitting play!!! Every time I hear that opening, I smile... and then I listen all the way to the end...

Thank you!

Pat -

First, thanks for listening... but more than that, thanks for listening "so carefully"... and then taking the time to point out in detail the things that did not quite land on your ear well. I have a good friend that does that kind of thing for me and provides that kind of detailed feedback - it is invaluable.

I listened several times to the harmony notes that you pointed out. I can understand what you are saying (hearing). I went back and tried to do what you suggested (use that last note) - and couldn't do it. It was an unnatural thing to try to start the harmony there (I've never been good at trying to follow something like that). I tried a few other things and just kept landing in the same place.

But, again, I do appreciate the detailed feedback. It would be nice to be able to get more of that once in a while....

But, in this case, Cindy turned, winked at you, and said "I liked this shade..."

Great stuff Floyd. I'm a great admirer of you songs and every time I hear them and hear you sing I just think that so many of them would be very suitable for Robert Mizell, a big country star here in Ireland from Louisiana in the Good ole USA.

He has a soundcloud page and always on the lookout for suitable material I believe.

Plenty of stuff on youtube as well.

But then you can sing a song just as well as him.

all the best

Hey All...thanks for the good words! And Floyd, thanks for the tune! Its great writing as usual. Hey for clarity, this wasn't a 'Collab' really. This is Floyd s tune. He sent me basic tracks(Drums, Bass and Acoustic) and I just added guitars. I did help shape the tune as I added the 'theme' of the musical context with a riff that emerged after a few practice passes through. I kept a certain 'type'of playing throughout, but that was my sole contribution.

As you know the benefit of having a live person playing on the tracks is that they can shape the playing to create stronger support for the artists intent. It becomes integral to the song versus just 'decoration' on the outside as can often be the case with BIAB when we try and hunt for the right Real Track. Sure, BIAB is really incredible and so many RTS can 'work', but sometimes it is nice to have a player who has actually heard the tune. LOL!

Thanks again Floyd and PG forum!~ Have a great weekend!

Very well stated regarding the way a player can shape the instrumental support. Unfortunately in several of the bands I played in that was a rarity. It takes a well grounded, tasteful and relatively ego picker to provide that support. I spend hours cutting RealTracks into snippets and reassembling them to try and approximate this feel.

Jeff - thanks for that. Appreciate you dropping in...

Musiclover - That's some nice comments - I appreciate it... I'm just a songwriter... I tell ya what... you get your Mr. Mizell to record something - and there will be a piece of publishing royalties for you...

Charlie - thanks.

Rick - glad you stopped by. appreciate the comments.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
