Good Sunday!~

1. How many Real Tracks should I have on my list (Everything Pak 2013)? My list say 1670 in list. This is with all 3 boxes to the bottom left checked. (Which includes N/A) Without N/A checked my total is 1595.

2. If I find Real Track folders that are empty (meaning no audio file) but have a text file inside that says "AlternateFolderNames" I presume this is just a reference file of sorts? The text file indicates a different RT name. When I look in THAT folder, there is audio. The original 'RT' in question however, loads and plays fine. I just can't find the raw file within its own folder. I wonder what is the purpose of the empty folder with the text file referencing a different folder/RT name? Less retrieving/computing for the program?

Thank you! Appreciate the help.

For #2, leave those folders alone, as the program can have different instructions to the same recorded audio file to create a separate RealTrack variation.

If you have the everything pac there won't be any N/A RTs showing so I suspect you did the same thing I did.Inside the pages of the manual that came with your order is another disc. This has all the bonus stuff which includes those RTs that are showing as N/A

Thanks Matt...and Silvertones I do remember the discs that came with the 2013 upgrade pack and I do remember the additional RTs and I do remember loading them all. I wonder where they loaded? Of course I didn;t actually check that they did, but simply followed the usual install progress and prompts. So for clarity...I am missing 75 RTs (according to the list). Do you know if that is how many comes additional on the 2013 upgrade (coming from 2012.5?)

Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it. I will also look at my discs now to find the answer.

BTW...how could I find out if I was missing RTs from the upgrade vs. my original install? I only ask because I had a few issues with missing RTs during the original installation attempts. The 2013 discs installed fine. Is there a list I could reference?

Thanks!~

EDIT: Now it say I have 652 RTs missing or N/A when I choose 'Show RTs that are N/A' and I unclick the other 2.

And I get this message when I hit rebuild and fix

Then I get this message immediately following:

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Ok...here is something.

From the 'Show N/A' list...I chose a track that was supposedly , well N/A. And it loaded. Or at least SOMETHING loaded that fits the description. I honestly don't know what all of the RTs are supposed to sound like so i can't be sure. But it did load.

Maybe that sheds some light? maybe I am missing nothing? Maybe 75 RTs? Maybe 652 RTs? LOL!

Here is a question: Can you name 2 or 3 RTS that came with the 2013 upgrade? I can see if those are loaded and available.

Cheers~

Thanks Leon!

My RT Folder (in my bb folder) indicates:

51.9 GB / 46,281 Files, 1,659 Folders. Looks like I am short after all.

We are on version 366 now.

Before you do anything else, you should visit the Updates page, download and install the latest version. It just may clear up this problem as well as a few others you don't know you have at this time.

Thanks Mac. Just updated to 366. No changes in RTs that are N/A according to the list or my folder properties.

I used the 50 mb update patch, but there is larger one. Wonder should I use that? My help section 'about' says version 366 and install was clean and fast.

I can re-install the RTs, its just that they are huge folders and it takes some time.

Cheers!~

THR,

Under the "Opt." menu, there's a selection called "What add-ons do I have?" If you click on this, it will tell you which Realtracks are and are not installed.

That might give a clue as to what is happening.

Regards,
Noel

There are some styles that are sold separately, like the Jeff Lorber Soloist #14 and #15. They show up as 'missing', although this would be normal.

The latest posted update file should contain all previous updates, regardless of filesize, so if you updated to ver 366 then that should now be okay.

Looks like RT sets 170 thru 175 didn't get installed.

Do you still have your original install files?

If not, contact pgmusic sales directly to see if they will supply you with the missing sets, referencing this thread.

Thanks for the assistance Mac. Yes, I do have my original files (I have my BIAB Everything Pak Hard Drive 2012.5) and my (2) 2013 update discs. Do you know which it would be under?

Thanks a bunch!

I can't remember which one it might be under, but it shouldn't take you too long to figure that out.

Great. The missing files were on the 2013 upgrade disc one. I actually re-installed all of the RTs from both discs.

So there are still 4 genuine missing (N/A) RTs from the list as they were part of a 'bonus' pak Country Waltz. Even the tech at PG support was missing them. Also...even with all files loaded / rebuilt/installed, if you choose show only N/A tracks then it will say 425 items in list even though none are missing. This is what I have and what PG support both had. Who knows why. But all my tracks/items are there verified by properties.

Have a great week yall! Appreciate the help.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
