I wrote this back when the western swing realtracks first came out in 2009. It's a traditional country gospel song in the style of the Grand Ole Opry - Martha White and take home a package of TN Pride days. I remixed the tracks using Tracktion and Ozone neither of which I had then.

It's called Walking Streets Of Gold

Hope you enjoy it. If anything's weird about the mix let me know. smile

Vocal - me.
Western swing realtracks.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Josie,

What a great toe-tapper. "Streets of Gold" is excellent on so many levels. First of all, your singing is fantastic! If your voice were a hand then the song and its style are a perfectly fitting glove. I really enjoyed listening. Then there's the composition (well, that's an easy 10/10) and the arrangement (another 10/10). I particularly like the chord at the end of the second last line that leads into the hook. To my way of thinking, this chord sets up the hook really well.

As I've said a number of times on this forum, AABA style is always a great style to listen to. This is no exception. In relation to the mix, it was well balanced and worked for me. There's nothing I'd criticize.

All in all, this is a real credit to you and your skills. I'm going back to do some more toe-tapping now!

All the best,
Noel

Josie,

An incredible piece of songwriting! Solid. From beginning to end.
Each of the lines leading to your title line - beautifully penned.
To be able to be repetitive yet interesting and convincing (all the "no mores..") is impressive. Really impressive. The "greet us/Jesus" rhyme is brilliant. Beautifully written on every level.

The production is a delight. And your vocal is so very "comfortable". Like you were born to this... Each time you sang "Jesus", I got chills.

WOW.

Hi Josie,

Noel's remark "If your voice were a hand then the song and its style are a perfectly fitting glove." hits the nail.
I enjoyed listening.

good job Josie!

Mixing was very clear on this end, and your beautiful vocals were right out in front. I don't know if much tweaking was required to get those real tracks to fit so naturally, but I thought the backing instruments sounded like real players... not just in terms of the sound quality but also in terms of the way a musician would phrase each passage.

You should take up baseball, because that was a home run!

Noel,

Thank you for the kind words. I wanted to cheer myself up after several loved ones passed away all in the same year and this is what came out. The aaba fit the traditional style that a couple of them loved.

Pat,

The tracks were tweaked quite a bit. That's what I love about real tracks - so tweakable. smile

Glad the mix is okay. I've been under siege with allergies.

Thank you very much for all you said.

What they all said. Nothing much left to add. It sounds to me like good ole Southern gospel with a Texas Swing edge to it -- great combo. Instrument choice and mix are spot on for complementing an outstanding vocal. Thanks for posting.

Josie this is GREAT! An on so many levels as many have already said, I love it.

One nit-pick . . . no not on the song I already said it was great, but in your Grand Ole Opry references, dare I say it . . . You forgot Goo Goo!

Don't worry I won't tell anyone back in Nashvegas!
