Took a queue from Josie...aka Sundance with her song in the signature. Folks can listen if they wish or not...

Have not been posting as of late due to the instrumental and
also genre. Celtic/and/or New Age.
Mario, Noel have done great job with theirs.
You folks Vocals and music, so professional just blows me away.

Anyway a friend suggested I post this...
The music is based on series of Celtic progressions.

Have been using Realtracks to help create a midi track to
use with my DIM Pro. Takes some amount of time but am
riding on the backs of our wonderful Studio muscians.
Also am using quite a bit more reverb, but this goes
along with the genre, a lot of times. All reverb was
applied within BIAB. Sonitus Reverb preset Cathedral.

****** Song Summary *************
Title: IsleOfLament

Key=C , Tempo 55, Length (m:s)=2:54

Style is PNOMOOD1.STY (PianoMood1 -reflective Soundtrac)
BassCustom Synth is Synth/Plugin Dim Pro Fretless Synth.
PianoCustom Synth is Synth/Plugin Dim Pro MidWeighted Grand
GuitarCustom Synth is Synth/Plugin Dim Pro Full Strings Long&Short bow.
StringsCustom Synth is Synth/Plugin Dim Pro Strings Ensemble
MelodyCustom Synth is Synth/Plugin Dim pro Orchestral Flute solo
RealTracks in song: 2033:Mandolin, Soloist CountryAndy Ev 065
RealDrums in Song: NashvilleBrushesBalladPushEv16: a: Sidestick, Brushes b: Brushes
*******************

Discounting the BIAB reverb, all of the mix was done with
RealBand.

PG Dynamics default preset with gain of 2
Sonitus Multiband preset to mid compression
Mstereo expander preset to full
K-Meter for setup monitoring.

I have another half dozen in the works, but the mix levels,
sounds and instruments are particularly hard to do in this genre.
Am listening to XM Spa, and also a very good artist on YouTube.

Frank,

thanks for posting this... I can't imagine why you would be even remotely reluctant to put this out there!

This genre is so restful, the perfect music to have in the background while I live life.

I like the way you have used musical instruments to create atmosphere. It is easy to imagine any of your songs in the context of a fantasy movie. There are no rough edges at all in any of the songs I've listened to in your collection.

Reverb is often singled out in reviews, as it's use is highly subjective... but in this genre, I like to hear it applied with as much saturation as possible.

Since two thumbs up is as high as I can go due to product design issues, this song is gonna have to live with a "two thumbs and two toes up" rating

But I washed my feet before I rated, so it should be OK.

Very pretty Frank. I don't listen to enough of this kind of music regularly to comment on the reverb in comparison to other songs in this genre. To me, the reverb was a little "cavernous" like the music was far away coming out of a cave. Not a bad thing if that's the effect you're after, just saying. smile

Enjoyed it.

Pat,
You are so very generous with your compliments...
Dirty toes are also a compliment used in this matter.. LOL

Thank you!

Josie,
I'm glad you enjoyed it. The reverb was/is quite intentional.
For most music ???? But as I've been listening more and more
to the genre, used quite a bit.

Thank you also!

coming back to listen again...

I am very impressed by the way the realtracks and the Dimension Pro instruments work together. A lot of hobbyist New Age productions don't sound good because they are using all MIDI, and they haven't invested in a reasonably good synth.

IMO, you really got some realistic sounds going, not only in this song, but also in most of your other songs in the YouTube collection

Its not hard to put a bunch of chords together then blend sustained chords together with some effects... but your songs also have interesting instrumental parts fading in and out all the time. Did you play any or all of that? Or is it generated by the style? Either way it sounds good to my ear.

Forgive me if a lay the praise on a bit thick, but New Age is one of my preferred genres. Whereas I never listen to many of the genres that are most commonly posted to the forum, in this case I listen first for pleasure, THEN for evaluation.

When I lucked out on a great
price for the Sonar X2 Producer, got Dimension Pro and also
Rapture. Both with excellent voicing. For better pianos
Purchased the Dim Pro Grand piano Pak Vol 1. It also had
a lot of other excellent voicing, including a very good
choir. Rapture is more towards modern music, but with the
Films and soundtrack Pak also purchased gives me more good
tools.

You cannot beat realtracks, discounting having 6 folks at my
beck and call. Try to use them as much as possible.

Pat I audition a style with extreme variance in the tempo's,
sometimes pushing them a bit. Also work with similar midi
style instrument with Dim Pro. Have settled in on about a dozen
good ones so far.

Next I would new the screen, remembering the melody type with
the demo. Having sources of excellent chords, enter progressions.
then start the work of nailing down the right sounds.

Sometimes use melodist for core of the action. Modifying quite a
bit the chord results.

First that is
a compliment to my arrangements, thanks. Yes I do play PSR-3000
keyboard, but limited abilities. On my current journey am not
using it at all. There is a magic work with PG Music products
called rendering. not LOL Its like having a fantastic miracle
right at our finger tips. This ruined me for using the board.
Same as Yamaha arranger keyboard ruined me in learning more
chords in different keys. 12 semitone tranposes.

I am pretty much an upbeat person, thru these many years, but
have a listening weakness. Melancholy music. Amazing Grace
has such a beauty to it. Some amount of the celtic, and
all its families has this type of music. A real beauty to it,
like Enya's, Lynn Morrison, and plethora of other great singers.

Again thanks, lot more to this, but showcase...

Frank,

There is absolutely nothing to apologize for. I, too, love ambient and New Age and spend a great deal of time listening to it. This stands up with much of what I hear. The only thing I could wish for is more.

HEY FRANK!!!

Whatever that little voice in your head is that keeps telling you that you should not be posting these to the Showcase needs to be told "SHUT UP!"

DON'T DENY US THE PLEASURE OF YOUR MUSIC!

It is Beautiful (<< with a capital B, see??)

Ditto and Big +1's from me to EVERYTHING Pat said (He speaks so well, we should all let him speak for us)

You are an artist. These are not "just instrumentals"... they are songs! (again, Pat already said that). You kept those earlier ones "hidden". Stop that. Please allow us to hear your music as you create it...

It is a joy to listen to.

Good stuff Frank. Everything doesn't have to be Pop or Country or whatever to be “valid”. This is very contemplative music – I dig it.

aha! then, can I assume that the dimension pro sounds you used in this project are some of the dozen or so favorites that you've discovered by much experimentation? I'm asking because I'd rather learn stuff like that by taking advantage of the time other people have invested in testing the various patches.

Dimension pro has SO MANY sounds that the very task of determining which ones are really useful could use up the whole summer!

When Real Tracks first emerged, Mac made the observation that combining them with MIDI made EVERYTHING sound better, and I agree. Your projects serve as grand proof that Mac was right (again)

Richard,

My wife does not like this type of music. She seh's its depressing.

Thank you!

Floyd,
I listen to folks like you and other performers with great deal of
musical knowledge, lyrics, vocals and performance abilities.
All of you have set the bar pretty darned high.
I thank you for the music compliments very much.

Do not consider myself an artist, still working on that part.
Just want to create/make nice music, decent to listen to and entertain.

Thanks for you generous comments!

Bob,

Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!

Pat & Pat,

About 3 years ago when getting Into BIAB and other goodies
this was also a change for me.
The tools, sounds, Realtracks, the overall software abilities
with a little music and techie knowledge opened up more windows.

Yes on Dim Pro and Rapture, have thousands of voices, instruments, sounds
good deal don't know how to use. Stick to the factory voices/instruments
for now. Don't really count, but have spent so many hours auditioning
the sounds. There are more than 12 am familiar with, but still learning.

I agree with Mac 100%. Realtracks can only compare to live musician
sitting in the room with you. The newer Soft Synth's can also do a
very good job, but harder to work with. Big advantage is Midi's ability
to play notes, single/chords or other groupings. This along with
Soloist abilities can be very complimentary to the music.

Thank you!

Am grateful to all of your Accolades. laugh blush blush

Amazing piece of music! The Andy Simmons photo in the video fit perfect, the music puts me in mind of sitting on a beach watching the waves. Keep sharing, excellent work!

Hi Frank,

As I was sitting here listening with my eyes closed, some of the words and phrases that washed across my mind's were, "really restful", "serene", "peaceful and calming", "beautiful". I can't believe that you wanted to keep this hidden!!!

I'm really glad that you posted it and gave me the chance to hear it. Thank you smile

Mesmerizing and a well thought out beautiful production. As I was watching I could envision a "Ken Burns" effect on the graphic. Starting with a tight shot of the figure on the rock and slowly expanding until near the end when the entire graphic is visible.

Thanks for sharing.

Its about 106 right now and few more degrees before day is out.

Guenter,

Glad you enjoyed the efforts.

Thank you.

Bob,

Made special arrangments with Andy regarding the artwork use.
My rule, not his, but wanted the music to reflect and fit his talent.
Very nice compliments.

Thanks!

Noel,

After listening and watching some of your videos and music
your right up there. Your compliments are appreciated.

Thank you.

Janice & Bud,

The music is very different, and meant to be.

Making arrangements with the artist, did get permission
to make a type of change, but on next piece. It will be subtle,
but there. Spent time this morning to finally learn its trick.

Sharing part has been more than surprise to me!
Both of you have broken into a lot of genre bending music.
With great success.

Thanks!

I could not have said it any better!

This is one of the best new age songs I have heard in quite a while. This should be on Sky.Fm!
