I wrote this song about how love isn't always at first sight. Some of the strongest relationships are built up over time, sometimes without the people involved being fully aware of it. Courtney is singing this one and I got her to sing the verse which is explaining what happened in a normal voice, but the chorus which is about how she feels in a more secretive and confidential voice. See if you can spot the difference. I'm playing guitar and keyboard, Alex is on bass and Josh and I are providing the oohs, aahs and la la la. It is, of course, all done in Power Tracks. Not At First Sight It wasn't anything Could put my finger on No blinding flash of light No music playing No sudden change of mind No hidden thing to find It wasn't anything I heard him saying, but.... He makes me feel so good He makes me feel so right He makes me wish I could Take him home tonight It wasn't ever planned I couldn't understand It just sneaked up on me Without a warning I find it hard to see How he did this to me This feeling's kinda strange It's slowly dawning, that.... Thanks for listening. ROG. EDIT - I've added a link to Courtney so you can see who's singing!

Good stuff as always, Rog-o. I especially like the doubling on voice and guitar. And yes, I caught the nuanced delivery on the verses versus chorus. There are a lot of nice touches in there.

What can I say that hasn't been said before, oh yeh: lalalalalalala, sorry, they came in just as I was typing this on my 2nd listen. Courtney has a nice voice both full and secretive. Good stuff! As usual. Alyn

Hi ROG,
"Not At First Sight" can certainly stand proudly against all your other works. You captured my attention the minute the intro started. I liked the percussion beginning. Also, whatever you did to the guitars was excellent! They had a very open, spacious sound. I'm always amazed with what you do with Powertracks.
My congrats to Courtney, too. Her vocal performance was terrific; very engaging. That was a clever direction of yours in relation to verses and choruses. It worked. Lastly, Josh and Alex should be pleased with their contributions also. This song was a sterling effort by all concerned. It worked for me!
All the best, Noel

ROG,
I like EVRYTHING about this song/production! I've already listened about 10 times because I hear something new every time I listen.
Courtney's vocal is a true performance.
The production is top-notch. TASTY guitars throughout - the opening licks, in particular. Drums and bass driving the whole thing along. The organ done to a t.
And the best oooohs, aaahhhs, and lalalalala's I've heard in a long time (really).
Big time kudos to all involved!

Rog,
I love what you're doing here, not only musically, but also sociologically, training these kids musically and directing them in the skill of cooperation. I always enjoy your/their songs, often in ways that are difficult to put into words.
Do these kids have a stage act? Or is it all in the studio? I ask because if they have an act, it would be an interesting experiment to get all of the American forumites to book local gigs for them, and you'd have a solid itinerary for a visit/tour.
Just thinkin' outside the box.

ROG,
I love a good pop song. This is great!
The kids just get better and better. The different vocal inflection is perfect for the song. Nice guitar sound too. Guess the professor/producer is bringing them up right. LOL!
Kudos to you and all. Enjoyed it from start to finish.
Oh, and love that intro.

What they all said. I listen to very little pop but I love music well enough to know that this a fine performance and production. Great vocals indeed. I'm REALLY fond of the airy sound. Nice!

Rog,
The music and finals are great as mentioned above. The big thing to me which is unusual these days is to take part and produce a product "With Your Family". What wonderful memories this has created.
Thanks for you folks work and the sharing.

Rog, this is air play ready IMHO.
Courtney is outstanding here! The backing band is superb!
You all should be very proud of this!
Two thumbs up.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Richard - Thanks for listening. Glad you liked the tracked-up guitars and voices. It's becoming something of a trade mark.
Bob - Thanks for the nice comments. Glad you liked it.
Alyn - So good to have you back on the forum. Don't know how we got through the La La La's without falling apart!
Noel and Floyd - Hey guys, you're making me blush. All the team read the forum comments and they really appreciate the feedback. The guitar sound is easy to recreate - you just go out and buy a '59 Telecaster which at sometime in the '60s had the pickups changed for ceramic instead of anico. That's what gives it the airy sound. Seriously though, I've had mine a long, long, time , so I didn't pay collectors prices!
Pat - The whole team play live from time to time, mainly raising money for the local hospice. A US tour would certainly be fun!
Josie - Thanks for that. The kids are just brilliant. They're as good as a lot of the pro session musicians I've worked with over the years. It gives me a real buzz just to be a part of it.

Frank - The teamwork with the "Family" of young musicians is really special. I love the way music brings everyone together and we have so much fun doing these tracks. Thanks for listening and the nice comments.
Mario - On behalf of the whole team, thanks for the praise.I'm certainly proud of how these young people perform to professional standards now. They'll be thrilled to read your comments.

ROG.
talk it over with everybody on your team. If a tour is a possibility given everyone's personal schedules, we'll start a project forum and see who on this end might be willing / able to get some local bookings. I'm sure we're talking small time venues, but it would be a memorable experience for all involved. All you really need to earn is enough to pay travel and lodging expenses... and When you're in NC there won't be any lodging expenses because you can stay here! And when word gets out about the tour, enrollment in your school might even go up.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
