Arrow in My Heart

As I am walking down the streets of your city
All the faces turn away from me, they turn away in pity
'Cause they see this empty shell of a man whose soul is empty
And he seems to have a problem with every breath he is attempting

Oh and, Baby, I feel so down
Ever since, since you are not around
Oh,oh, Nothing seems to be the same
And I'm feeling all this pain
Feels like.

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Where everything has been torn apart
Like an Arrow in my Heart
And I'm falling , falling down
And I'm writhing, writhing on the ground
With an Arrow in my Heart oh,oh oh oh oh

You made your point, but you know I must defend
Myself, don't want to go over this and over this again
It's two o'clock and we are getting to the part I really dread
How can I sleep when you keep on talk talk talking in my head

And, Baby, I feel so down
Ever since, since you are not around
Oh,oh, Nothing seems to be the same
And I'm feeling all this pain
Feels like.

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Where everything has been torn apart
Like an Arrow in my Heart
And I'm falling , falling down
And I'm writhing, writhing on the ground
With an Arrow in my Heart oh,oh oh oh oh

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Like an Arrow in my Heart

Hi Pete,

Good song!! I like the lyrics and music quite a bit.

One small and hopefully constructive criticism: I think I can see what you're going for in the vocals, but I wonder if it's maybe a bit too much of a good thing... it's striking me as a bit "affected." That's not the word I'm really looking for, but it's the best I've got at the moment. I'm all for pouring as much emotion into our music as possible, but for me personally this one is so much that it doesn't ring true to my ears.

+1 here, while I like the song and the vocal I too am hearing (hard to describe) you maybe "pushing" the vocal a bit too much, maybe in an effort to sell the lyric.

Just an observation.

I like the way you consistently developed the comparison between literally having an arrow in the heart, and its metaphorical equivalent.

the meter varies from verse to verse however, which is a bit disorienting.

but on a different note: welcome to the world of BIAB 2013! pretty cool, huh?

I agree. I really like the lyrics, chord progression and mix but it does sound like you are forcing the vocals. I suspect that you are trying to emphasize the pain one goes through when faced with this situation. Unfortunately I think you may have over done it. However this is just my opinion and other may not agree.

Again I really liked the song.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I agree with you the vocal is okay at best and as I wrote the song I didn't visualize it as a song I would perform - I was trying to write to that hip hop / alt country groove and with an emotional tone. So I'll be happy to try to incorporate your suggestions in the next incarnations.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
