Hi, i have been working on an important project for days and audacity had been working fine on my computer until today when i tried to playback something i had just recorded. i am hitting the play button but nothing at all is happening...earlier a dialogue box popped up but I forget what it said and i cant get it to come up again...i think it said something about checking the output device and bit rates? but i have no idea what that means...

Emm,
Have you tried shutting down and restarting your computer? I've found that when sound issues arise, a complete shutdown is often the solution.

Will the file play in WMP (Windows Media Player) or your default music/audio player? If not then I would suspect that the file become corrupted somehow. Typically not the fault of Audacity.
I'm assuming you have the Windows version of BIAB?
When you saw that dialogue box appear, were you in Audacity or BIAB? Also, what version of each do you have?

i just restarted my computer then I went to play a track and it a nessage box popped up saying "an unhandled exception occured" ???

I Googled your error message and now believe that your registry has become corrupted. The first step would be to scan for and remove any malware or viruses. After doing so, read and apply the tips found here: http://www.errorsfixer.org/articles/an-unhandled-exception-occurred It's a trusted site. Important note: In the future, help us to help you by giving more details about your setup. That's actually quicker in the long run.

I think I'd uninstall Audacity, restart the machine and re-install audacity first. That should remove registry entries and reset them on install. Important to reboot after uninstalling though. Resorting to registry entries as a first step is frowned upon here.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
