Hi, I play Hawaiian steel guitar and I have made backings with BB, but the BB ukulele sounds like an emasculated electric classical guitar. My ideal Hawaiian band is bass, ukulele, and steel guitar. I want to choose a bass style in BB and then record the Uke with the BB bass. I can record this way, but I have not figured out how to combine the recording with the BB file. I suppose this is spelled out quite clearly somewhere. I would appreciate any suggestions. Aloha.

Hi Limau, If you record your instrument to the Band in a Box audio track you can then go into windows to rename the audio track so that it shows up as a performance track. See the forum instructions Here Hope this helps George P.S. Read all the forum (get 2 or more audio tracks) as it gives more info.

Thanks George, but the linked discussion seems to go off on a couple of tangents. I did not see how they related to my question.

Hi Limau,
Sorry if I have the wrong idea.
Can you clarify if you can record in Biab or if the sound of the uke is the problem.
Just trying to help.
George

Limau,
Record the uke to the audio track in BB and it will play back with the other BB tracks in the song.
OR open you BB file in Realband and then record your uke and anything else you wish to record on it's own track and mix down to your liking.

i actually do it a bit different. I use biab to create the backing tracks ie i create the song, freeze the tracks, and then save down all the tracks as one audio track (stereo) then, I save down each individual tracks of the instruments into a folder. I put the individual tracks into a folder and save them for later. next i take the created song file (stereo wav) and import it into my 4 track. now I have a backing track, and i live record my guitars or vocals. Once done with that i export just the guitar and vocal tracks from my 4 track into the folder with the rest of the individual tracks, and import them all into sonar to do my editing, mixing, mastering ect... the original backing track can then be discarded.... complicated? yes but you have a ton of control over each track, and then you can add in additional midi tracks in sonar...

Didn't Real Band just add some new Uke real tracks in the 2013 version?
I thought I saw them in there. I have not had the need for them so I have not used them.......
My suggestion would be to save and close the BB project then simply reopen it in Real Band. Let it render the tracks and then simply add a new track and select the Uke real track to see how it sounds.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
