The voice of Dr. Victor Frankenstein: Colin Clive, from the movie of 1931. Composer, Arranger, Guitar: Aleck Rand RealTracks artistsKeyboard: Jeff Lorber Bass: Vernon Barbary Drums: Terry Clarke Trumpet: Ron King Tenor Sax: Eric Marienthal Voice of the creature: ??????In the original 1931 movie classic, Dr. Victor Frankenstein jolts life into an inert assembly of body parts by exposing it to the energy of lightning. The viewers - the ones that didn't flee in terror as thousands did - saw in the rolling of the cast: Playing the creature: ?Of course, it turned out to be Boris Karloff playing the lumbering, demented and not very sympathetic monster. But it could have been different. The creature could have turned out to be a funky, struttin' dude with a wicked sense of humor. He could have even been a guitar player. The revisionist sound track might go like this: https://soundcloud.com/aleckrand/dr-funkenstein

Hi Aleck,
welcome back. Your song is rather long, but I enjoyed every second of it. Great changes, powerful arrangement and a divine guitar. I liked that brass section. You didn't mention it in your post. Did you play it?

Dino! Welcome back. I've been wondering where you's at. You may be pleased to know that this is the first piece of streaming music I listened to on my DAW now that I'm married and (semi) moved in. Just got internet service in the last hour.
This was well worth the wait. The mix was fantastic as always, full and powerful, yet with some 'air.' No flies on the playing, either. I'll echo the question of the previous poster--how did you do those horns?
Regards,
R.

Wow! This is such a warm welcome from my Forum buds! Hi Guenter and thank you for your comments.
Ryszard, my man - congratulations!! My Polish colleague told me to tell you this, "Gratulujemy ślub. Żyj długo i prosperować!"
Hey Floyd - hope you had a productive summer and thanks. The answer to the main question is coming up.
Mac - I hear you're a man not inclined to dispense complements lightly. Thank you.
Pat-the-cat-with-the-black-hat! Hey man, good to hear encouraging words from you. Hope you've been well.
CubanPete - I've been enjoying your music ever since I joined the Forum. And here's the answer to that question:
I ARRANGED THE MIDI HORNS.
I get the impression that you liked them so you'll be hearing more on the next post.
Hi Dani - I've missed you too. I hope summer in Finland was better than the crummy weather we had in the northeast US. I went off to my little shack on the beach but the sun wouldn't cooperate. And I see that you've discovered the key to eternal youth! Why didn't I think of that?
It's good to be back!

Hi, Dean !
You have to rejuvenate yourself (Lol) ! Now, the summer over here in H:ki has been absolutely super. Quite similar to what I depicted in my song that you seemed to like so much (Lol) ! I happen to like yours too !!! Maybe you´ll have to pop up here next summer ?
Cheers Dani

Nice smooth jazz. It was an enjoyable listen, especially since I tend to like jazz....

Aleck Rand (aka Dean Clark) hey, thanks for making yoiur real name known! But now I've got to ask.. is the pseudonym "Aleck Rand" significant in any way, or is it RAND-omly chosen?

Pat - with that genius brain of yours, I would have thought that the relation between the two names would be trivially obvious. But we all have blind spots. Let's see if someone else will supply the answer first ... unless you've already gotten it. The RAND-omly chosen is way too clever. Look down at Floyd's remark.

Dean Oh MAN! Now I feel like an idiot! I figured it was an anagram, but I stopped looking for one when I couldn't come up with something. And once I knew your real name it didn't occur to me to re-evaluate the letters as an anagram in light of that info. Very clever! Interestingly, I just got back from reading the 7 stages of Alzheimers at ALZ.ORG. I meet all the symptoms for stage 3 and some of 4. I should probably be scared, but I think one of the advantages of being stupid is that you don't always know when it's appropriate to be scared. So I'm just gonna be happy and test that old saying about ignorance and bliss

Digging your tune, nice composition, good production.
Horns... very impressive. If you don't mind me asking...
How do you do the horns?
Notation software?
What did you use as your source of sounds?

Pat - just remember this. The time to start worrying is not when you frequently can't remember where your glasses are. Or, if you don't wear glasses, perhaps you find that you occasionally sleep in your clothes.
The time to start worrying is when you forget that you wear glasses ... or clothes.
Until then, stay cool. Incidentally, what's your advice on a new stage name: Neal Drack? I don't know ... it suggests Dracula, who I always thought was a pretty cool dude.
