I started a thread in Tips & Tricks to which I can no longer respond because about half of the text and the "Reply" buttons are offscreen. I cannot read the replies or reach the reply buttons, even with ridiculous efforts at rescaling my display.

This has happened before, notably in the Upgrade path portion of the site: you know, the page with the varying prices depending on the version from which you start.

This is a known issue. I brought it up with Support; the response was that if we made enough noise about it perhaps something would be done.

Noise? Help?

R.

It does this when you put in a picture if it's nor resized. I think in this case I did it by holding down the $ . The text doesn't wrap soon enough. I have scroll bars though were, although a pain, I can still access the whole thing.

I don't use IE but I checked and IE6 has a scroll bar and post buttons.

IE7 did away with the scrollbar for some arcane reason...

I had the same problem with Firefox and the interminable scrollbar on your Tips entry. IE 6 gave me the same long scrollbar.

I guess the programming only allows for X number of Subject characters or lines when the post opens. I'm thinking that maybe shorter Subject Titles might prevent the problem.

The page probably needs a code rewrite. Maybe they should post a "character limitation" notice.

This seems to only be an issue with Internet Explorer 7. The scrollbar appears in IE6, Firefox, and Safari. We are looking into it.

Thank you--it's the result I was looking for. But (ignorant question) why is a scrollbar needed some of the time and not all of the time?

Um, because this forumboard software is ancient?

Okay, so its not as old as I am.

But it seems like not much is.

The scrollbar is only needed if a post has something that is too wide to fit. Usually someone has inserted an image that is too big. In the case of the post in question, it was the string of dollar signs that was "all one word". I inserted some spaces between the dollar signs, and now IE7 users can read the thread properly. I don't yet know why scrollbars don't work in IE7 though...

It's currently 11:20 EST - just went back to Ryszard's "tip" and it displays correctly with no scroll bar on Firefox 1024x768

Seems we're there Andrew - thanks.

I wanted to revisit this to say that it appears to have been taken care of in IE. One way or another I can see an entire page. If a message isn't displayed in its entirety, I can scroll or use the cursor to read it. The page with the upgrade paths is now displayed on one screen, too. Thanks, PG Support!

Scrolling has been around a long time. Even before Mac. I watched on TV as a high priest srolled to the next page even. They could scroll all the way left and right. Maybe the old ways are better, then again those horns had no valves.

Someday I'll try a hand horn, or not.

God invented scrolling so my picture could fit on the screen, John...

But I wasn't around when God invented dirt.

You see, John needed a place to stand.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
