I have a problem not sure what happen. I want to force midi drums for a song. so I did last night worked great I was going to edit the drum line and freeze it. today my midi drums aren't working right.sounds like the kick and the snare are right but symbles or high hat are like a sqeaking sound. I went back to factory setting what did I do? anybody have an Idea. I've got 5 shows coming up help

Hi jt3, I'm a regular user of midi drums and have not had the issue you describe. I notice that in another thread, Keith From Oz suggested forcing midi drums via the Realdrum Picker. That should work. Maybe it doesn't save, though. (I'm not sure about this and will need to test it to see.) My set up is a little different. What I have done is to deactivate the automatic substitution of Realdrums for midi drums. To do this ... 1. Go to "Opt" (1) and select "Preferences". 2. From the Preferences menu (2), select "Realdrums" (3) and then from that menu, disable the automatic substitution (4).  I've personally found that if I use a midi style as a starting place, I'd rather select my own Realdrums. Hope this helps, Noel

I tried a different style and it is working. could the other style be corrupt?

It's possible that there could be some midi setting contained in the style that is not set correctly. What style was it? I'll test it.

I take it you mean the styles C_90BAL and C_BALAD. If that's so, I tried them and they work fine for me.

This could be something to do with your selected MIDI synth and not the style at all. Might simply be a case of your machine losing resources, if you haven't shut every program down and rebooted the computer, that might be what is needed. If it worked okay in the past and just recently starting exhibiting this behavior, try the 2nd Return to Factory Settings selection found under the Options menu, which not only resets the key BB files, but reinvokes the Audio/MIDI selection Wizard. --Mac

thanks Mac I did that those 2 styles didn't work contacted the help line. they had me delete 2 things which cleaned things up. the songs still did it. But I started over on it from scratch and it works fine. They helped me set the drivers to work the best everything is working good. I use a lot of real tracks but sometimes the midi plays what I want or allows me to make small changes thanks again.

Noel Good tip Noel - I hadn't thought of doing it that way. Would certainly make it easier to use alternate drum sets (ie BFD) in Sonar. Dennis

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
