This is the story of a pub/bar I used to frequent (I lived next door unfortunately ) It was mentioned in the Doomsday book apparently. A lovely quaint little English village with a village green and beautiful old church. Muntjak deer ran wild and ate everything under 2 foot high....grrr!. They apparently escaped from Woburn Abbey even tho' that was miles away. Mabel was the Landlady of the pub. Hullo Mabel You feel a wave shoot through you like a solid lump of lead through your mouth. past through the brain and out the back of head stagger back don't feel no pain, you felt this once before you said you'd never do this again and in you walked through that door Hullo they cried as they often did sit down and howse it bin put out a hand and feel it there, you act like in a dream troubles pass if they weren't there you felt that once before you said you'd never do this again and in you walked through that door You know the names you know the faces you know the score get there first but it's your round till Coatsie locks the door her in doors gets her upset you felt that lots before you said you'd never do that again and in you walked through that door Hullo Mable, howse you bin? time goes by so quickly seems a shame to go home tabs run dry, your pockets empty, your thirst stands all alone you stagger home by the light of the waning winter moon you said you'd never do this again and again you talked too bloody soon Hullo Mable, howse you bin? SOLO Hullo Mable, howse it bin? Style is =NASHPOP.STY (NashvillePop El.Guitars (120 RT)) RealTracks in style: ~684:Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesSync Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 853:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm NashvillePopDirty Ev 120 used RealTracks in style: 850:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm NashvillePopClean Ev 120 RealDrums in style: NashvilleEven8^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride Extra drums from underlying midi file and FL studio. I sampled the snare hit in the Real drums and used that for the extra hits. Me on guitar, eventually, as it took a long time to get the solo clean and sounding right. Coatsie was Ralph Coates ,a great bloke, sadly departed, and he said he was the official village idiot!! Thanks to him I met Bobby Moore, Geof Hurst and Gordon Banks from the 1996 England Football World Cup Team. I will never forget that fleeting moment! Enjoy Alyn

Hi Alyn, I really like this! It's got heaps of character and the lyrics sat me right at the scene of the pub. That last line gave me a good laugh. I have to say that the mix is put together really competently. My only suggestion is that maybe the vocal could come a little more forward (0.5 - 1.0 dB). That could be my speakers though. 'Excellent' is a word that springs to mind All the best, Noel

Hey, Alyn, you did it again! There's just so much raw energy in your songs.
Wonderful "pub" atmosphere which maybe you need to be British to pick up on fully.
A great driving sound, right from the first bar and an absolutely killer guitar sound and solo. Another track which you just have to keep going back to again and again.
All this and still a refreshingly individual style and sound. Great stuff!
ROG.

Noel, Thanks for the kind words. I did redo the song a few times before posting as the vocal was either too loud or not loud enough. It sounds OK on my set up but ..... ROG, Thanks for the praise, the pub/village was the best even all the wives liked each other!!!....a rare occurrence LOL. I worked hard on that solo...it took maybe 5 months to get it right, one bar in particular, Guenter, "refreshingly individual style and sound" coming from you that is a great compliment as your music is unique in this forum. As I said to ROG that solo took months to get right as I have an awfully sloppy picking style which initially made the solo sound ***p Bob, Thanks for that. We all are seeming to develop our own sound on this forum. I like my backing band now as they don't argue Eric, Thanks for the kind words. Alyn

Alyn,
That was great! Good to hear that accent. Reminds me of my absolute favourite TV show, "Luther." Big 'Dris is just brilliant.

Scott, Thanks, almost all of my songs are autobiographical and this covered a 5 year period of my life in the 1980's Aleck, I didn't realise that my accent was so noticeable to others. My Mum was Aussie and I was born, in Wales, with an Aussie accent, never had a welsh accent and then 20 years in Cockney land, the East End of London, sealed my vocal fate!! I had to google Luther as I had never heard of it!! Thanks for the comments. Dani, Thanks for the Santana smilie! I saw him once in the 1990's and the ****** played bongos, didn't touch his guitar grrrrr! I wanted Samba Pa Ti The original chords were A and D minor69's, my version of Prince's weird chord; 6655 on the high strings, EBGD respectively. Alyn

Molsenhousen, Thanks, I remember those times fondly and it was a labour of love to get the solo to sound right!!! I am now going back to my sloppy, first take playing Alyn

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
