I export BIAB tracks to my DAW (Presonus Studio One 2), add live tracks and mix everything together.

However, I cannot export the 2 count-in bars. I normally use a-part and fill.

Anybody know how I can do this?

Thanks.

Yeah, but you may not like the answer ..
Use Realband. Then you can render the Realtracks/Realdrums as part of the file easily.
Open the file in Realband and then export the tracks from there (or use the DAW plugin)

May work better for you. In Realband the 2 bars of count-in actually get written to the file in a linear fashion (if I understand your issue correctly)

While you got it open, try adding your additional live tracks in Realband. It offers the option of regenerating existing or new parts (realtracks) while still acting like any other DAW for the most part.

Robert,

I take it that you are using drag 'n' drop. Is that correct? I regularly save my BIAB tracks as WAV files and then simply load them into my DAW. Doing it this way, the count-in is always present.

Noel

I just exported something yesterday from BB.... which I don't normally do. I normally open in Real Band and export from there..... BUT in this case, I wanted the exact track BB was using.

The track came out with the count in intact. Here's what I did.

I always create a unique folder for a song project once I realize I'm going to work on it to finish it.

So... from inside BB I clicked on the .WAV icon.

then: save all tracks as wave file (with options)

in the new window: first, click CHOOSE to select the file destination folder (in this case it was my song folder)

Then: click DXi- Direct render (save wave file) under this, be sure to check One Wave File Per Track to get each instrument exported as a unique wave. It will render a track for each instrument AND it also gives you one track with everything merged.

At the very bottom left, be sure to CHECK the boxes for 2 bar lead in and include drum count in sound

I ended up with the count in exactly at the beginning as I needed it... and it imported perfectly into X1 and once the temp was matched in X1 everything was lined up perfectly.

I also drop and drag MIDI files in Sonar and the count in is always included in the track's transfer. It was a long time ago that I did this, but if I remember correctly, there is an option somewhere that allows the count in to be included. I am not at my music computer so I can’t look it up but later today if time permits I will try to look it up.

That's exactly what I do but the countin is not there on any WAV track.

Thanks anyways.

H Robert,

Could you please give me a step-by-step description of how you get the tracks from BIAB to your DAW. I'll recreate the process and see if I can discover what's happening and what's stopping the count-in from being transferred.

Regards,
Noel

Try this:

Under the BB Audio menu, select "Render to Audio File".

A Window of the same name should open.

Bottom LH of that pane, make sure the two Countin commands are checked to true.

"Include 2-bar Leadin" and "Include Drum Countin Sound".

Hit Close on that window and then try the drag 'n drop again, see if the countin is now included.

If that fails, there is always the Option menu, Return to Factory Settingw -- don't be afraid of this one, it often clears up problems that don't seem to have rhyme nor reason.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but as far as the count in options, no matter what settings you have, I think with Real Drums, if you want the count in you need include the Drums as part of the combo wave file you are dragging or exporting. Then the count in should be present. Otherwise the blank bars show up but with no count in.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
