May I keep this topic as current as possible please.

I have not seen any evidence, rumors or hints as to whether the developers can achieve a 64 bit version of the software by the half yearly point. It would certainly be amazing if it were possible but at least could we be given a token YES or NO ..... Maybe a POSSIBLY even by the staff?

:-)

The best I have ever seen from of PG on a feature request before it was actually introduced is "we're looking into it." This is not meant to discourage you. There are a lot of others who want this also, so keep the request current, and who knows? You might do better. cool

Any major DAW has no choice but to go 64 bit if it is to stay current and IN the market.

My 'request' Ryszard is born from years of using BB from the floppy disk era. I think the software was always light years ahead of any competition .... actually, there is no competition. The software is unique.

It's a major step forward and Peter knows this.

The luxury of using BB x64 bit would mean being able to stay with BB and RB to start and finish projects with all the major VST and VSTi's that anyone has in their respective arsenal. I for one, would ditch a lot of glitchy software and be extremely thankful for not having to go from one 32 bit prog to a 64 bit prog ..... etc. etc.

I know the day will come ..... but for those standing in queues growing old gracefully ..... Well, I'm sure you know what I mean.

wink

I was not aware of this thread and posted somewhere else about 64bit version but got no reply.

My problem is with trying to run samplemodeling plugins (SWAM or Kontakt) in RealBand.

I'm certainly adding my request to everyone else's about wishing for 64 bit versions of both BnBox and RealBand.

As far as the interface, I don't want cosmetic changes, but it would be great to have an improved interface, improved in terms of ease of use (finding things primarily).

I strongly suspect that the BB Team are hard at work working on and coding the 64 bit version.

I really do hope so. I find working with my VST & VSTi in BB very frustrating. As for Real Band I just don't bother. It is so buggy at 32 bit, it just isn't worth the hassle.

I too would appreciate a more coherent manual that is designed to FIND what I'm looking for. I tried to get into the 'nitty gritty' of creating good 'finger picking' styles, actually spent a week trying to create exactly the John Denver acoustic finger pattern for 'We Don't Live Here No More', kudos to Bill Danoff. I gave up in the end and just played it anyway. I'm sure it's possible to create the style and have it play as the original ...... but the time it takes to create a style and style patterns that work correctly in BB just doesn't happen for me at least, even after reading and re-reading the existing manual.

As for the interface .... Some love it, (probably the die-hards and floppy disk original crew), .... some hate it. I'm sure an option to select colour schemes is available but the interface is rather out of date after so many years. My vote would have to go with those that want a new and refreshing interface.

I do wish the 'team' here would make public there intentions regarding 64 bit Band In A Box. It isn't impatience on the part of us purchasers and followers of this amazing software is it? Surely it is just polite to give us an indication of what to look forward to.

Mal.

Is the sleigh at the North Pole?

Is Santa all keyed up?

Is the 64 bit a 2014 reality?

I have my wallet at the ready.

I also hope for 64 bit it would really up the power of these programs. Access to all the ram 64 bit allows. I also want RB in that conversation. On my system it is not buggy at all and is a solid product, so solid i do not use any other programs at this moment. But fixing the two or three big ticket items we have fussed about over the last three or four years, and going 64 bit would drive a nail in the board for me.

Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.

I did not see a 2013.5 update. The 2014 version must be a huge upgrade. 64 bit? I really hope so.

..... or software updates of any note Matt. Scuse pun. :-)

With this years array of VSTi's flooding the market ..... and some stunning ones there are too, the idea now of 64bit BB never seemed better.

Hurry, hurry coders .... but get it right team. the worst case scenario would be that the release turns out so buggy the software doesn't work. This is a constant problem with DAW'S .... with updates having to be released constantly.

I suspect this is why such a mammoth upgrade is taking time. The team are taking great care to please us all.

I hope.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
