Hi all,
this time I didn't use a Vocaloid.
The vocals are by an unknown singer from the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) (Sample CD from Zero-G which also provided the aahh sounds used).
It's an adaption of Marietta's Aria from the opera "The Dead City" by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. I hadn't heard of him before. But he is a well known composer of Hollywood film scores and received two Oscars.
Here is the original:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roPSH0-_EZg&list=PLDEED516B0263F7C5
It was a little tricky because the samples had a terrible timing.
And I changed the mix of 3/4 and 4/4 to continuous 4/4 measures.
I made 5 versions with different rhythms and ended up with the Reggae version which was perfect for me.

Classical Raggae! What a concept; probably only the hyper-imaginative Guenter could have thought this up - and executed it convincingly to any skeptics (Classical Raggae? Heh heh, you're joking of course). No, it's the real thing folks.

"Interesting mashup" was my thought exactly.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Wow, and I thought that the Reggae song we are finishing up was a mashup! This makes our effort seem like traditional Reggae! Your technical skills are just off the chart and then to make it all sound like great music. Hat's off to you! Very cool production.

Guenter,

Classical Reggae....brilliant!

Astounding.
As Janice and Bud say about their reggae and blues song, I thought reggae and bossa was extreme with my reggae style song but this........ +1 to what Bud says also.
What will you produce next??? I for one can't wait!

Guenter, your originality and ingenuity never fails to amaze me!
What a great track, it conjures up all sorts of mental images. Nicely engineered also, as usual. Well done.

+1 I didn't think I'd like something this different but the subtleties and pretty tones in the arrangement were quite interesting.

Guenter,

Gypsy Reggae Opera! It's official.. I've now heard EVERYTHING!

How you can possibly do what you do is mind-boggling. I do imagine you must have a great time doing it.

And you manage to make opera enjoyable in the process. The opera world should be beating a path to your door. You could increase their audience ten-fold.

This is a work of art. That is the best compliment I know of.

A thing of beauty.

Hi Guenter
WOW! I was not expecting that I must say. Very different textures all coming through on the one track. Very inventive and an enjoyable listen.

Hi Floyd,

thanks for listening and commenting.
"And you manage to make opera enjoyable in the process."
That refers to me, too. I didn't use to like opera at all.
But by playing around with arias I get to love the melodies
eventually. It's always a challenge.

Hi Joanne,

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks a lot.

Like others said, creative use of styles. The gypsy fiddle, and classical voice, all over a reggae backing, this really creates two emotions at once and makes me think of a soundtrack. Perhaps on a French street.

Digging it, thanks for posting.

Astonishing (a word I do not use lightly) and very, very beautiful. How did you match tempos?

Richard

Edited to add: "Humanoid," which ensues on your Soundcloud page, would fit right in with the music I listen to all night on a Polish electronic music station. You need to get this stuff into distribution.

Guenter,

I just got here, in fact I am listening as I type. Here a couple of thoughts, you have got to be kidding and who would have thunk it?

Translation to the aforementioned thoughts . . .

#1. Without hearing the finish product one might think mixing these two genres was a joke but just after a few bars listen that image and thought is long gone.

#2. Gunter would have and did think it!

Very enlightening as to what music can be to different people, their ideas and ears and of course a great example of your creativity! You rock man!

Hi Richard,

thanks a lot.
I had two songs, one with tempo 40 and the other with
80 bpm. In Reaper I put them together and tweaked
the vocals by changing the play speed percentage in the 7 takes.
About distribution: I've been retired for a year now and don't want to start a business. I just do it for fun.

Hi Danny,

thank you very much for your kind words.
