Whiskey n Smoke

Life has been in my face lately thus no time for music, either composing or listening. However I did get s little down time to jam this song using Band-in-a-Box style Classy Easy Swing Ballad (85RS) with no modifications as backup. I’m playing only the leads.

I hope you like it for what it is.

She over heard him whisper to the bartender trying her best not to speak over the cool sounds coming from the band stand, "I'll have a whiskey sour and do you mind if I torch this cigar"?

Good one partner, puts me in the mood for some smooth swing.

Later,

Mario - that sounds great. Am I correct in assuming that those are midi tracks and not RTs? They all sound fantastic. Nice guitar...

Mario,

So kick back mellow and smooth. You're playing is always top notch.

When you need it, it's so cool that BIAB can come up with a backing track that creates a mood that just inspires you to add your own creativity and enjoy playing without a lot of tweaking.

PS. Hope life settles down for you soon so you have more time to play.

Nice smooth jazz tune. Nice tone on the guitar.

Thanx all for listening and the very nice comments.

Floyd – yes these are all MIDI tracks. Usually I will modify what BiaB gives me but because of the lack of time I just used them verbatim. BiaB is amazing in both MIDI and RTs isn’t it!

Josie – life should settle down next week. I’m almost finished with my basement and the contractor should be finished with our bathroom remodeling by next Tuesday at the latest. This bathroom is off my studio so recording anything is almost impossible right now.

The guitar tone is from my Jay Turser jazz box through Amplitude 3 using the extra purchased Fender amps Twin Reverb.

Hi MarioD,

Jazz is not my usual genre...but I am beginning to like it more and more.

This one of yours is very good.

Well done

Hi Mario,

very smooth and relaxing.
I suppose you did the sax with your breath controller.
Good sound.

Thanx George and Guenter for the very nice comments.

Guenter – yes I am playing the sax part with my EWI-USB wind controller.

Hey Mario,

Your title is the exact term that a musician friend of mine used to describe my singing voice. I know I sound like my cords have been marinating in bourbon and Lucky Strikes for a few decades. But, as I've said before, I'm strictly a scotch and cigar guy.

Anyway, I enjoyed this piece immensely. If that's a midi sax then I gotta know what you used. I know those are RealTrack piano, bass and drums, but the sax is really throwing me.

In all, a real jazz guitarist playing real jazz. More, please.

Dean Clark (aka Aleck Rand)

Hi, Mario !:))

I am late, but hopefully not too late !:))
I dig jazz when it is played the way you do !!
I just love those superb chords !:))
A very nice piece much to my liking !!:))
I forgot to say that I prefer Cognac to Whisky
but the older the whisky the more it starts to
remind you of cognac ? (What a statement ?, I´ll probably
be overrun by angry bourbonnists ? (chuckle) !!

Cheers
Dani

Thanx guys for listening and the very nice comments. I’m glad you liked this little quick and dirty ditty!

Dean aka Aleck – Everything on this song is MIDI. There are no RealTracks or RealDrums in this song; I must have done a good job on them as I have fooled a number of listeners who also thought those were RTs and RDs. The sax is SampleModeling’s tenor sax MIDI sound source played with my EWI-USB wind controller.

Dani – I’m a beer man myself.
