This is probably a duplicate post (but I hadn't seen it so,):

If you opt to download the 2014 UltraPak files in their entirety, be prepared for a _VERY_ long download event. In my case with fast internet service, well over 6 hours. Second, it appears that now that I've downloaded the multiple .exe files, I need to install each individually, as I did not see an installer. (I may have missed that file in the 80 or so files that were ultimately download, so please forgive me if I have misspoken here.) All in all, my advice to anyone thinking of buying the 2014 UltraPak upgrade: pay the extra money and get the HD delivered to you. I had done so in the past and regret opting for the download this time. And, yes, I did contact PGM and paid the extra $15 to get the HD, and will use it (not the dl'ed files) for the install.

Hope this helps,

Bob

There is no single installer for the download versions.

That might be a good Wishlist item if it can be implemented, however.

Apparently now there is a Master Installer included in the Download. See Musiclover's post below. Way cool.

As for download speeds, the PG Server has been swamped, literally, with all the interest and purchasing of BB2014, a trick I use is to wait until its around midnight in the Eastern or Central US time zones, seems to run faster then from here.

Still, this program is worth the wait IMO.

And, I'm sure that Time and Technology is going to catch up on this type of thing.

Agreed Mac, I should put this on the wishlist, but it is a little disappointing to have to ask for such, don't you think? Prior to seeing the 80+ files, each requiring a separate download, I surely thought PGM would offer a single .msi (install) file that took over and installed the required files for the update. After all, it is 2013. Oh well, I get the PGM ethos after all these years of using BIAB, so, with a shrug of my shoulders, I'll dutifully upgrade once again.

Cheers,

Bob

I don't think you have to install each one individually, I did the download for the upgrade and there is a master track installer file there, just have all your realtracks and holds in the one download folder. Click on the master track installer and pick the right target for the bb file, and it will do the rest for realtrack installs. Go away and have a coffee and it will do it one set after the other.

I did it this way and on my two PG drives from other years I will upgrade them same way. Does take some time though, I'd image an hour to do every drive.

Of course for the program file and any add-ons such as bonus paks or amplitude you have to do that one at a time.

That's great to hear, Musiclover.

I didn't have the Master Installer there in my now defunct download page, but then the link was sent on the very first day of the New Release, likely wasn't available yet.

+1 Musiclover. When I get to my BIAB tonight, I'll be sure to look for it in the download.

As Musiclover said, there is a Master Realtracks Installer included in the download. That leaves Realdrums (3 .exe files), hi-q (sampletank), style_demos, 6pak and the biab_realband installers to do manually.

Hi, Pepe!

if you PM me I'll send you my 2013 master realtracks installer (it's a very very small file), perhaps it can be used also with the 2014 version.

Greetings from Turin!

Antonello

P.S.: Obviously I don't want to infringe ANY of the PG Music EULA rules, and think that I'm allowed to send this file to another person as this isnt' the program itself, but only a "frontend" to install other files already *legally owned*, isnt'it? Otherwise please let me know.

Well, I'm almost done downloading the files, but I'm not aware of a "master installer" amongst the files in the download page. What's the name of it?
Thanks

Mike B.

Next time you upgrade order the hard-drive. Just click setup.exe and you're good. Only a few more files to click on after, PDF files, Demos, Real Band. Later, Ray

Hi Ray, I decided to start with a clean plate for 2014. Instead of installing over my 2013 Everything Pak., I first removed all traces of BB from my laptop. After installing the 379 patch to the usb HD, I attempted to install 2014 to my laptop several times without success. Three calls to support and they all said let it run and see what happens. I did let it run 26 and 1/2 hrs. confused and I guess I am good to go?------Leon

WOW! I've never experienced anything like that. With the BIAB hard drive, all I had to do was click setup.exe and I was done in less than an hour. I installed over my BIAB 2013 with no problems at all. Hope you're up and running now. Later, Ray

Ray, My first Everything Pak. HD was in 2011.5. The RealTracks were large at that time, but not so many to deal with. I believe it required about three hrs. on a rather slow Sony laptop. My normal up grades have been by CD. Quick, and I keep the disks just in case. Now we have so much more for the same amount of an investment. The RealTracks, RealDrums and everything else require 80 plus GB. I had a problem of some sort with a fresh HD install to a fast i7 HP. I would think 2 or 3 hrs. would be normal. Oh well, I will use the CD up grades next time.-----Leon

Hi Leon,

That's incredible. I installed my 2014 Everything Pak directly over my 2013 installation and, like Ray, it took me about 1 hour.

Did you disable your antivirus software before installing? I always do that because I know that it adds a significant amount of time to the process when every file is checked to determine if it's viral or not.

Regards,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
