Hello everyone,

I should receive the new 2014 in a few days with this new feature for real tracks.

In previous version I noticed by listening to invidual instruments files, that realtracks follow a standard progression with all the chords. So each real tracks can be used for any songs. Is it possible for PG Music to post this "real track song" or "real track lead sheet"?

I have a few musician friends that coul help me make new jazz and bossa tracks and eventualy make them available.

Regards

Yeah a template would be great to play over so that we could make a truck load of these rascals and share them

I support this as PG would have "developed" a standard template that covers a range of scenarios that proves to be working as no-one has complained about RealTrack generation mis-interpretations (yet)

They most probably have worked out scenarios to cover chord transitions in multiple directions e.g. C -> F -> C

I want to invite an old guy I know to come and record some Accordion stuff for me BUT I have to be sure that I do enough preparation to catch all in a couple of hours.....

I'm doing allright for Country Trash ....

I don't think there is a standard 'Template' as it would need to cover every chord Biab can use. In my brief attempt to create a user track. I found that if i used a chord in a tune that was NOT in my user track tune. BiaB didn't play anything. So long as you are aware of this then it isn't to hard to set up a 'template track' of your own using all the chords that you normally use in the music you write.

I just started with simple 251's eg Dm7 G7 Cmaj7, then 25's eg Dm7 G7
one chord per bar. by using the transpose function and copy and paste you can very quicly run these chords through quite a few different Keys. Then just add any alterations to the chords you might want eg a b5 or#5 to the G7 chord and b5 to the minor. Use copy and paste and tanspose again and very soon you can have a template over 100bars long. This really is just scratching the surface with user realtracks.

Here's what I tried.
Open biab then autochord wizard. select a rt, in this case i chose finger picking guitar and ran this through autochord wiz and saw that it was 160 bars and the chords for each bar.
This should give you a template style or at least let you know what chord progression is being recorded.

In addition to being simple, it's obvious and elegant.

Most likely I never would have thought of it. Oh well, another senior moment I guess. wink

Jim,
the other night when I got in rather late, our cats were asleep in the planter as usual. What was not usual was a possum curled up with our 3 cats.
I was already in the house with my shoes off before I remembered we don't have 4 cats, only three and the forth looked kinda ugly.
Seems my last 3 brain cells are like 3 BB's rolling around in a 55 gal can smile

Evidently the cats didn't mind a fourth party. I'm surprised they let that happen.

My two dogs frequently go after baby possums that have entered "their" territory and wandered a little too far away from momma. I normally go outside and bring the dogs in for a few minutes so they don't meet an angry momma worried about her children.

Last night a baby fawn was wandering around, wagging it's tail and wanting to play. The dogs get along with deer; they just don't like possums or moles.

This is some what different than what is mentioned above, but is related to the structure or UserTracks. As I was having trouble getting 63 GB of RealTrack to load. I had plenty of time to watch as the files slowly made their way onto the laptop. Rather simple RealTracks such as Wanda Vick fiddle would move from, lets say 1203 thru 1210. On the other hand a complicated RealTrack such as Gypsy fiddle would require as much as 25 or 30 movements for a single Track. All of this, in perfect timing would not be easy, or possible for most people. Well, me anyway :)-------Leon

Sorry
Can't say I follow where this thread titled "Universal Chord Progression for Usertracks" is going (?)

Not sure how just using ACW with a realtrack, with no chords already in BiaB will give you anything. I thought BiaB needed/required chords first to use generate a realtrack. Unless you open the last song you were working on by default.

The point is one of identifying a template of sorts that was used by PG Music in putting together their professionally produced real tracks. Getting a set of chord progressions puts some light on the thinking the developers used in making sure that they had real tracks that would respond to any possible chord input.

Try ACW by opening in the rt folder a c g (acoustic guitar tract) 191-1 rt.Then choose the send to BIAB and you will see the chord progression in the wav file a c g 191-1. Disable the style and hit play.
You see(on the chord screen) and hear because it's playing the RT acg 191-1 wav file how PGMusic set up the RT for this instrument.
I just chose the first one I cam across. There is also the acg 191+1, the acg 191 and the acg 191-1.
Check it out see what you think.
Hope this helps

Well, it helps to certain point. But, look how many .wma files have you got per RealTrack. Each one played over a different set of chords, so BiaB has lots of information to use.

One thing to consider is that the BIAB RT's are for all possible keys where as most people have only certain keys they mainly use, so that cuts down on the amount of user track info needed as in Peters earlier post.
I'm still learning this so I may be way off on giving advice but I think it gives some ideas for experimenting, at least for me.

Hi,

Yes there are templates. In the Help files it is indicated:
"The easiest way to start is by using one of our pre-made templates. You can find templates in the bb | RealTracks | UserTracks folder, or download additional templates from pgmusic.com. "

They are in another folder:
c:\bb\Data\TemplatesForUserTracks\PopSong_5_AdditionalCommonChords.pdf

The Help file is under:

UserTracks Dialog
Tutorial: Making a UserTracks Style
Part 1 - Making a basic UserTracks style

So I'll try and let you know !

Can you get to these templates in Biab or do you have to get them from the hard drive?

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
