I have BB-2014 installed under Windows Vista. My sound card works perfectly. I can happily listen to any MP3, WAV, MID and so on, using any popular program. BB does its job neatly, except for sound: I see all the BB volume meters going up and down in their panels, audio/MIDI parms are well configured, but NO SOUND AT ALL is getting out of the PC. Just one point to focus on: the Roland Virtual Sound Canvas software has been removed by accident, there's no backup copy, and Roland doesn't supply a valid version of VSC for Windows Vista. What can I do?

BB will access your Microsoft synth, or it comes with a lite version of coyote synth, as well as a Sampletank program. Go to the preferences and midi devices and make sure you are routing to some kind of GM synth

Hi Domenico,
Perhaps the easiest way to go about this would be to go to the Options menu in Band in a Box and find and hit the "Return to Factory Settings".
Since this is a sound problem, be sure to choose the 2nd of the two button options, the one that also runs the Sound and MIDI installation Wizard.

I just did a reinstall of BB 2014 to move it from the HD to the computer. When I finished, there was no sound. Like you, the meters were moving and the lights were blinking...... it was acting right but giving no sound.
I went in and double checked that the sound card and driver mode was correct, (found the driver set to MME..... changed it to ASIO and selected the proper in/outs) I also made sure it knew where the data bases were located since they had moved..... and I rebooted the computer.
It came up running like a champ.
This move was to see if doing this would solve a different issue that started to occur randomly since the new install.

I've experienced BB2014 not wanting to easily change Audio Drivers from ASIO to MME and back again.
Running from the hard drive only here this year (so far...).
After leaving the Audio/MIDI setup window and selecting the *other* sound driver, hitting play has quite often resulted in a situation where the speed of the song is very slow, at least half the entered Tempo, with some rather bizarre sounds coming out, whether RealTracks, MIDI, or both are involved.
Closing down BB and reopening (I have my Prefs set to Open with Last Song) has always brought the sound back to what it should be.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
