Hello everyone.

Changed computers and rearranged my music room so I'm having to learn a new DAW my old one wouldn't work with win 8. It's all been a bit strange getting used to but onward and upward. LOL! Thanks to Noel for all his Reaper tips to help me get started. It's been a tad frustrating but overall I like it and I'm sure the more I use it the more comfortable I'll get. Sooo, here's my first mix using Reaper.

The song is an original feel good song of mine called Crazy Bout You. All of it is RTs except me singing. I used the BIAB Teen Country style, added another guitar RT in RB, sang all the vocal/harmonies then dragged the tracks into Reaper.

Appreciate any comments you have. Hope you enjoy it.

Crazy Bout You - top one on the list. The lyrics are fairly easy to hear but I'll post them later.

Thanks for listening,

Josie

Josie, Nice upbeat pop song! The vocals are great on this one. I really like the doubling. The harmonies sound really good too. I think the mix sounds good. Overall very well performed and produced. Keep me coming. Tom

Hi Josie,

The mix is awesome! There's nothing that you need fear about Reaper after getting it to sound as professional as this production. "Impressive" is the word that first came to mind about half a bar into the song. By bar 2, it had changed to "very impressive".

This is a very catchy song and, as always, your singing is incredibly easy on the ears smile I like what you've done with the vocals and panning. It made me swivel my head to double-check what I was hearing.

Now that the first mix is out of the way, you'll find things will get a whole heap easier with the DAW. Reaper is a very complex program because it does such a lot of things. That can be a bit daunting at the start. (A bit like BIAB, I guess.)

I enjoyed the "Crazy Bout You" experience.

Best regards,
Noel

You've done a really great job there. I really like the mix, the harmonies and phrasing, perfect fade at the end, but all the better especially as this is your debut with Reaper. You must be very pleased with this result.

Great job

Trevor

Josie,

Really fine job! I like the song & the vocals. I also like the mix, it's cleaner sounding, (Reaper is a great program) and I really think the RT's sound like a band... Good job putting those together.

Excellent all around! grin

I like this tune....

It's always fun to get "new toys" to play with. I don't know much about Reaper (I've been a cakewalker since the beginning) but it certainly seems to do a good job.

Nice work on this.

Impressive! Only nitpick I have is that the vocals seem to sit to far to the front in the mix but that could be a individual taste thing. Harmonies are spot on and the song is easy to listen to for sure.

I tried Reaper a while back before I settled on Cubase, not a bad program. I feel your pain with your having to learn a new DAW, it seems like you just can't sit down and make music without having to learn 5 things first.

Great song, wonderful vocals. I'm going to check out this "teen country" that you speak of. LOL

Hey, good job with the new DAW!! Nice crispy tight sound. I liked the way the drum is mixed also. Just a pleasant groove all the way -- vocals, lyric, RTs and mix. As I listened it played through and "It is what it is" jumped in. You've got a good thing going with songs like this. They all conjure up images of beautiful days with fluffy clouds and a cobalt blue sky. All meaning I like your "feel good" songs. I feel good but tend to write feel bad songs -- go figure.

Thank you Tommy, that really made me feel good. Hopefully I'll have more time to post more songs this year than last.

Noel, thank you. I appreciate all you said. You are right, I don't fear Reaper quite as much as I did two and a half weeks ago - inch by inch.

Thank you Wade. Very appreciated. You'll do fine - just take your best shot and go for it. Everybody gets butterflies about posting. I know I still do.

Trevor, thank you very much. I appreciate it. On the mix - pleased or relieved - I'm not totally sure. <grin>

Thank you very much Greg. Appreciate it a lot. On this one I did no editing on the RT's - I regenerated RT's once in Realband then added one more RT after auditioning God knows how many and that was the band. Love it when that happens.

Josie,

The need for a new DAW may be a blessing in disguise. I think this is one of the best mixes I've heard you do. So whatever plugins you've found to use seem to be working. The vocals are crisp (nice harmonies). The drums are terrific (you might try a little reverb on them. They are fine the way they are - but that occurred to me at one point). Well done.

I enjoyed it.

Thank you Scott. Very appreciated. Me singing, but all RT's playing. I'm addicted to the RTs so I rarely play my guitar except to relax sometimes.

Herb, thank you I appreciate that. I think it'll be more fun the more I use it and get over my T3 plugin withdrawal.

Thank you very much Steve. I appreciate that. You wouldn't want to have to feed me. LOL!

Guenter, thank you very much. Always appreciate you listening and your comments.

Thank you Rick, very appreciated. You may be right, the vocals might be a little more out front than I intended. <grin> The "teen country" was a really nice style surprise for me. Saved me lots of track hunting time.

John, thank you so much. Really appreciate you listening.

Josie
