This is the first track from my follow up CD project to Pipe Dreams. CD will be called Big Sky. All tracks will have a country flavour to them this time. The lead guitar was played on my DH500 wind controller, with the Orange Tree Samples Steel string Guitar Patch. All other instruments are realtrack. Song was mixed and mastered in Logic Pro 9 Western Skies Cheers Adrian

Hi Adrian...
This is the first time we've listened to you. That was so relaxing. The tone of the acoustic lead was sweet and mellow. We loved the gentle sound and artistic simplicity of it. Really great stuff. Might we suggest you consider possibly bring the acoustic lead up just a wee bit. It's beautiful and should stand out a bit more, in our opinion.
Great track. Best to you...
Al & Di

Adrian, a really nice instrumental. I did enjoy listening. The violin added a good feature. After reading the song title I actually presumed it was going to be a vocal.

Don't hear too many instrumentals here. Thanks for the change in pace. I like the melody and the arrangement. I agree with Al in that the lead could sit out front a little more. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Adrian,
good job for a windcontroller. Really sounds like a guitar. Enjoyable listen.

Adrian,
Now, that is a real switch! Usually it's guitar players wanting to be able to have a guitar midi controller that can sound like a wind instrument... first time I've heard of someone turning that the other way... Sounds good. An enjoyable tune. Nice mix.
The last couple of note were not as smooth as they ought to be - after the rest of it "defines smooth".

Hi All,
Many thanks for the listens and great comments and constructive tips, I will indeed bring the lead up a little in the mix and try and smooth the last couple of notes out.
I'm a sax player so all my stuff is normally sax or wind controller all instrumentals as I'm no singer. This is the first time I have used the wind controller to sound anything like a guitar, I did do a small violin solo on my last project Pipe Dreams, but other than that its always been flute, trumpet etc.
I will be posting the next few tracks over the coming weeks "Sounds a lot like Bruce" will be the next which is piano lead (still wind controller).
Thansk again for the comments and thanks to PGmusic for helping me release my creativity.
Cheers Adrian

Nice song... I love peaceful instrumentals like this one.
A few nits that need fixing IMHO are:
check that wrong note at 0:32 and 1:20
normally a song resolves back to it's root for the final chord/note.... yours does not. I'm sure that was intentional. However, that certainly leaves a feeling of the song being unfinished in the listener's ear.
overall, good job!
oh yeah....add: what's up with the title? I'd certainly not call it that. nothing about the music suggests an emergency let alone something that serious. The title is totally out of character to the music. Yeah, I'd rethink the title, which is so easy to do on an instrumental tune..... you simply change the name....waa laa new title.

You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanks for the comments, I will check those notes out. Title yes when I put it together it was a faster paced tune that I felt needed a more subtle approach so I guess the inference of the song has now changed, I will give it some thought as to a new name. I agree with Guitarhacker, was just about to post that, it happened twice at those times. And the ending too. Maybe more of a fade if not resolving?
The song is very good though. Had me hooked right away.

Thanks for all the comments and listens I have tweaked the song in accordance with those comments: The two offending notes have been sorted, well removed completely as everything I tried they still jumped out so slight re-phrase The ending has been changed The guitar lead lifted in the mix The name has been changed to "Western Skies" New track below: Western Skies Again thanks to all for the constructive comments. Cheers Adrian

Adrian, I listened before the changes but called out on a job before I could comment. The wrong note at 1:20 still seems to be there, but the rest sounds better. I really liked the melody line. Keep creating and posting. Tom

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
