Hi, friends !:)) I must confess that once upon the time before I found my wife I was in love with a girl that later left me and ended up in another country altogether ! On our older days we have started to communicate and she will be coming to see me (not only me of course but all her friends from her old country) ! In anticipation of this event, I wrote these lyrics and adjusted them to the song I had finalized a little earlier ! Well, it´s been over 50 years since we said goodbye so you can understand my anxiousness !:)) Style: HAPPY STY Happy med Folk-Pop Shuffle Instruments: 33 AC String Bass 1 AC Piano Realdrums Pop Bouncy 4 Brushes side stick 26 AC guitar 19 Rock Organ 51 Synth Strings 1 Soloist: 1965 Clarinet Dixieland medium Sw 110 Mixed on mixcraft 6 http://app.box.com/s/m3fjxor4zqrfsol8mns5http://app.box.com/s/56g1e70cjzou5lfk05t9http://soundcloud.com/dani-lindroos/friend-from-the-pastCheers Dani Lyrics: FRIEND FROM THE PAST (Music & Lyrics by Dani) Today´s the day, yes it happens at last when I will meet with a friend from the past excitement and fear will draw a big tear from my eye It was so long since we parted astray to me it seems just like yesterday 50 years have been passin´by all that time since we broke it all up and we said each other goodbye since we said goodbye You know I loved you yes I did love you so why did you have to end it why did you go? It´s all behind us so I really don´t mind anymore what is important is the friendship I know and I´ll be glad to be able to show How much it mean to me wherever you´ve been all that time since we broke it all up and we said each other goodbye since we said goodbye Ref We´ll be together maybe for the last time I´m so happy for you we´ll have a lot to catch up on our past that is true solo Ref We´ll be together maybe for the last time I´m so happy for you we´ll have a lot to catch up on our past that is true We´ll have an evening and that´s gonna be great we will discuss events until it gets late and then you will go, and I´ll miss you so once again But I will hope that we will meet somewhere still I guess it´s more like a matter of will I live and breathe for the moment until we will be able yet to get all the thrill from meeting each other anew meet each other anew !

Hi Dani...
We really enjoyed this one...a lot! It has a nostalgic yet fresh sound. Love the chord progression...awesome! Great mix and instrument selection.
One thing you might want to look at. I speak a couple of foreign languages (decent German, some Spanish and French) and translation is sometimes difficult, especially when two words mean almost the same thing.
In this line of the song ... "all that time since we broke it all up and we said each other goodbye" ... instead of saying "we **said** each other goodbye, it would sound better to the English-speaking ear to say "we **told** each other goodbye". Your English is exceptionally good! I'm impressed. But, for what it's worth, I thought I would bring that to your attention.
That was a terrific listen...we loved it! Good work!

Nice little shuffle thing you got going there and cool to hear a clarinet RT -- don't hear them often here. Everything works well with both the story and the vocal -- like the ooohs also. Cool mellow listen. Thanks for sharing.

You are all too kind, but I do appreciate your nice comments ! I have always loved shuffle rhytm, I don´t really know why, but somehow it appeals to me very much !:))

Hi Dani,
nice song. Very clever chord changes. I like your oohs and that deep tone (on "true"), which you hold so long in perfect pitch.

Hi, Guenter !:))
Thank you so much for your most kind comments !:)) I think you have a flair for nice harmonies (chuckle)? I think I could have used som more but then again I was afraid of the message getting too blurred by added voices ? :))
Cheers Dani

Dani,
A songwriting machine - who could resist that. You should break out the RealTracks for this... It has almost a "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" feel to it...
Nicely done. Cool oooohhhs...
Good luck with your reunion!!! A song to "break the ice"!

Hi, Floyd !:))
Thank you for your kind comments !:)) I am afraid this "machine" is getting older and a bit more rusty day by day ! (Lol) ! It is not easy to change parts in this old machine (lol) !!:)) Did you mean that I should specify all the different instruments on this style ? Naturally I could do that but they are those that are automatically imbedded in the style ? I think I added a synth pad in the background also ? I did specify the instruments according to my SGU file, I did it in the intropart of this post !:)) Btw Burt Bacharach has always been one of my favourite composers, the other one is Brian Wilson ! My old girlfriend is coming over, but not before next spring, I just happened to have a tune ready and the tune seemed to fit that occasion !:)) In any case,Floyd, thank you for your good luck wishes regarding our reunion, I really do hope this tune will break the ice ? (lol) !!:))
Cheers Dani

Dani, Nice relaxing tune. I also like the oohs and clarinet. Once again you have surprised me with your chord progression. I always enjoy trying to figure out where you are going next. Somehow you manage to to pull it all back together. I was speaking of the chords but I guess that applies to real life also. Good luck with your reunion. They are always fun. After you get over the initial shock of the changed appearances, you realize that you can still see the person you knew through the filter of time. All the best, Tom

Chuckle !:))
My good ol´Tommy ! My problem is that she has not changed a bit since those days ! She is a Fysiotherapist and as such she has to keep herself in a very good shape to be able to have the strength to keep up such a tough job ! :)) This, while I have been mostly at home building up a neat little tummy instead (lol) !!:))
Now, I am very grateful for your kind comments on the performance and good luck wishes regarding my old girlfriend´s visit !:)) She will not be due over here until spring, but I thought I had to soften the terrain by preparing this little icebreaker in advance (lol) !!
Cheers Dani

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
