A tender love ballad about the Man from La Mancha.

Don Quixote

©2014 Robert Randall Burke/BMI

Don Quixote had a farm
EIEIO
Old Sancho at his arm
Everywhere he'd go
Headed off on his great quest
To fight the foreign foe
Tilting at the windmills in a row.

Dulcinea waiting there
In the castle keep
He saw her everywhere
Even in his sleep.

All the people of the town
Say that he's insane
But truly, he's the greatest knight in Spain.

What a cool song. Had a little ragtime feel. Loved your lyrics. Well sung and well played...

Hi Bob...

What a fabulous song! A new genre...Pop-Dixieland? Ha! Great use of BIAB and loved the lyric. One thought crossed my mind as I was listen...maybe cut back just a wee bit in the vocal treble. That's probably more of a personal preference for sound than it is a nit.

Regardless, that was one fabulous listen. We're still smiling and the song quit playing 3 or 4 minutes ago! Totally loved it! Best to you...

Tuba time!!! How cool is that?

Dulcinea del Toboso & Sancho Panza -- you might go a while before you hear them referenced again in a song.

This is a fine tune to my ears all the way around. The lyric is clever, the band is perfect for the lyric/melody, the vocal is spot on, the mix of the dixieland instruments rings authentic and it all sounds fantastic on my monitors.

Another one for the playlist. Thanks!

Tuba Time? Yes, my thoughts exactly. A nice blend of Trad, lyrics with a twist, a bit of fun, all delivered in a neat song. I missed the Wash Board...

Hi Bob,

I can't say it better than Bud, he nailed it:
"This is a fine tune to my ears all the way around. The lyric is clever, the band is perfect for the lyric/melody, the vocal is spot on, the mix of the dixieland instruments rings authentic and it all sounds fantastic on my monitors."
Thanks for an enjoyable listen.

I added this to a large fav play list that we stream while traveling. About half way through today's day trip Don Quixote came up. Thanks Bob for the big smiles it put on our faces.

Hi Bob.

Wonderfully atmospheric song.

Inspired choice of subject. Like Floyd, I much preferred it to the book (which I still haven't finished after many years).

Terrific vocals, arrangement and mix. Really enjoyed it.

ROG,

Thanks. Just a bit of fluff. I really wanted to try out some of the Dixieland styles, and I thought - Don Quixote - that's Dixie! laugh

Bob,

I apologise for being so late in getting to this one. I love it! Words that came to mind were "clever", "quirky", "very creative", "excellently written", "perfect performance", "great production".

I've always suspected it but now I know for sure that your talent knows no bounds!

Wonderful stuff!

All the best,
Noel

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
